“Succubus” tattoo design

“Succubus” is available at becbware.com

I have wanted to do a “succubus hidden in plain sight” kind of concept for so long! I wanted it to be sweet and alluring but with a disconcerting edge to it. Obviously I had to add some belladonna nightshade flowers because like her they’re beautiful but deadly. Prints, permissions for use, stickers pins and keychains are available on my website 🖤🖤 #tattoo #demon #tattoo ideas #gothic #artist

... Read moreThinking about getting a succubus tattoo or just curious about their mystique? I've always been fascinated by creatures of myth that embody both beauty and danger, and the succubus is the ultimate representation of that duality. For my own design, I really wanted to capture that 'hidden in plain sight' allure, where something sweet on the surface has a truly dark and powerful core. So, what does a succubus tattoo truly mean? Beyond just being a striking design, succubi often symbolize seduction, power, and hidden dangers. For many, it represents embracing one's own dark feminine energy, independence, and the ability to control one's destiny. It can be a powerful statement about reclaiming personal power or acknowledging the seductive, yet sometimes destructive, aspects of desire. The addition of belladonna flowers in my design wasn't just for aesthetics; these beautiful but deadly plants perfectly echo the succubus's nature – enchanting at first glance, but with a potent, hidden edge. It's about finding beauty in the shadows and understanding that true strength often lies in complexity. When it comes to succubus tattoo designs and ideas, the possibilities are endless! You could go for a more traditional demonic look, or like mine, a subtle, almost human-like figure with revealing details. I love the idea of incorporating elements like an unzipped back showing the spine and ribs, which hints at the true nature beneath the skin, just as the OCR images suggest. Other popular elements include flowing hair, bat wings (subtle or prominent), or even blending her with natural elements like thorns, roses, or moon phases. For placement, the back is fantastic for larger, detailed pieces, allowing the full story of the design to unfold. Thighs, arms, or even the shoulder blade can also be perfect spots, offering a canvas for dynamic imagery that can be either openly displayed or subtly concealed. Some people even opt for a smaller, more discreet succubus tattoo on the wrist or ankle, symbolizing a hidden power or secret allure. Don't be afraid to explore different artistic styles too! A realistic succubus can be incredibly detailed and captivating, while a neo-traditional or gothic style can add a unique flair with bold lines and vibrant colors. If you're into darker aesthetics, a blackwork or dotwork succubus can be incredibly striking and mysterious. Whether you're drawn to the 'sexy succubus' aspect or the deeper symbolism of a powerful, enigmatic figure, the key is to find a design that resonates with your personal story and aesthetic. For me, creating this piece was about bringing to life a concept that's both beautiful and thought-provoking, a true representation of embracing the alluring darkness within.
