Let's Talk Mental Health

As the colder months set in, my seasonal depression is starting to act up, and if you know anything about Bipolar Disorder, you know that it can be extremely difficult to deal with. I'm in therapy twice a month and also have a Psychiatrist to manage my meds- I'm on 200mg of Lamotrigine and Clonazepam as needed for cases of extreme anxiety. I am struggling so much right now with those feelings of emptiness and loneliness. Like I have too many emotions that it almost feels like nothing. I have a loving and supportive fiance, friends and family but right now I feel alone. If anybody else with Bipolar has any tips on how to deal with the feelings , I'll take any suggestions. #bipolar #MentalHealth #depression #seasonaldepression #help

... Read moreBipolar Disorder can significantly impact mental health, particularly during the colder months when Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is more pronounced. Symptoms often include fatigue, irritability, and a general sense of loneliness. It's essential for individuals experiencing these feelings to seek support, whether through therapeutic methods or medication management. In addition to professional help, engaging with online forums or local support groups can provide solace and shared experiences that remind one that they are not alone. Lifestyle changes, such as maintaining a regular sleep schedule, getting adequate sunlight exposure, and incorporating physical activity into daily routines, have shown promise in alleviating some symptoms. Nutrition also plays a vital role; Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins D and B12 are linked to improved mood regulation. Moreover, practicing mindfulness techniques such as meditation can help ground individuals during challenging times. Connecting with friends and family, expressing feelings through journaling, or engaging in creative outlets can also contribute to emotional well-being. Remember, reaching out for help is crucial; there is no shame in discussing mental health struggles. Being proactive about mental health can enhance one's quality of life and foster greater resilience against seasonal feelings of depression.

I also have bipolar 1 & I totally feel you girl! I’ve been forcing myself outside for a walk and time with my plants. I don’t feel as big and bubbly when I do it now, but I still do it to feel something 🫠
