Her Soul To Take Book Review

I read this in 2 days, I couldn't put it down. Her Soul To Take has that small town paranormal Gothic feel that I love and we love a ✨Demonic✨ romance. It's not the most amazing book I've ever read, HOWEVER... I did immediately buy the next 2 in the trilogy 😅 I overall really liked the characters, it has that specific brand of 🔥spice🔥 that I like, and I love a good evil cult. If you like paranormal/ghosty things, an MMC that has the "I'm a bad guy but a good ol boy just for you" vibe, and an FMC that's just likeable all around, and a cute cat named Cheesecake, then this is for you.

... Read moreAlright, fellow bookworms, let's dive even deeper into Harley LaRoux's 'Her Soul To Take'! When I first picked up the book, its dark cover, featuring a haunting skull, immediately set the tone for what promised to be a thrilling ride. My initial rating of 4/5 still stands strong, and honestly, this book lives up to the hype for anyone craving a specific kind of read. Breaking Down the Spice Level: So, you’re wondering about the heat, huh? The original review gave it a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ out of 5, which is a solid mid-to-high level. This isn't a fade-to-black romance; it's explicit, but it’s also interwoven with the plot and character development, rather than just being gratuitous. The spice scenes are frequent enough to keep things interesting but don't overshadow the story. They contribute to the dark romance vibe, exploring the complicated, possessive, and intense connection between the main characters. If you enjoy scenes that are detailed, passionate, and often have a touch of forbidden allure, then the spice in 'Her Soul To Take' will definitely satisfy that craving. It's the kind of spice that makes you blush, but also makes sense within the context of their developing relationship. Unpacking the Genre: What Exactly Is It? 'Her Soul To Take' firmly plants itself in the Dark Paranormal Gothic Romance subgenre, with a strong emphasis on the demonic romance aspect. What does that mean? Think small-town intrigue, ancient curses, shadowy secrets, and a pervasive, eerie atmosphere. The Gothic element comes from the setting and the sense of impending doom, while the paranormal involves supernatural entities, particularly the demonic MMC. It’s not just about ghosts and bumps in the night; it’s about a deeply flawed, powerful supernatural being and a human FMC navigating a dangerous, alluring world. The 'dark' aspect isn't just in the romance, but also in the underlying themes of cults, power dynamics, and moral ambiguity. It successfully blends elements of horror, mystery, and intense romance, making it a unique and gripping read. A Glimpse into the Story (Without Major Spoilers): The basic premise revolves around a young woman, our FMC, who finds herself drawn into the orbit of a mysterious and dangerously alluring man, the MMC. He's got that classic 'I'm a bad guy, but I'll protect *you*' vibe, which, let's be honest, is catnip for many dark romance readers. The story unfolds in a small town that holds dark secrets, hinting at an ancient evil cult that plays a significant role. The FMC is relatable, not a pushover, and her journey into this supernatural world is compelling. You'll find yourself questioning motives, enjoying the slow burn of attraction, and getting tangled in a web of paranormal events. The narrative structure, combined with the atmospheric writing, makes it incredibly hard to put down, pushing you to uncover the next piece of the puzzle. It’s a tale of forbidden desires, ancient pacts, and the undeniable pull between two very different beings. Characters You'll Love (and a Cat!): Beyond the central romance, the characters are well-fleshed out. The MMC is brooding, powerful, and undeniably dangerous, yet his protectiveness towards the FMC makes him incredibly captivating. Our FMC is strong, resilient, and charming, making her easy to root for. And let's not forget Cheesecake, the cute cat, who adds a touch of lightheartedness amidst the darkness. These characters, combined with the engaging plot, truly make this book a standout. If you're looking for a book that delivers on its promise of an enticing dark, paranormal, and spicy romance, consider this your green light to dive in.
