2-3 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning or all purpose blend

Slaw:

3 cups cabbage slaw mix

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

1 tablespoon ranch dressing

1 teaspoon lime juice

salt and pepper to taste

lime wedges for serving

Instructions:

Pat the thawed shrimp dry with a paper towel. Toss the shrimp with oil and spices until well coated.

Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F for 3 minutes. Add the shrimp to the air fryer in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer you may need to do this in batches. Fry the shrimp for 4 minutes, then flip and cook an additional 2-4 minutes.

The cooking time will depend on how large your shrimp are. The shrimp is done when it is no longer opaque and has reached an internal temperature of 120 degrees F.

Combine the slaw mix, cilantro, jalapenos, ranch dressing, mayonnaise, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Stir the mixture well so it is completely combined.

Assemble the tacos by adding the shrimp to warm tortillas and topping with slaw.

... Read moreIf you're looking for a flavorful, quick dinner option that fits into a keto or low-carb lifestyle, these air fryer shrimp tacos with slaw are a fantastic choice. Using the air fryer significantly cuts down cooking time, allowing you to prepare a healthy meal in just around 10 minutes, which is perfect for busy weeknights. The shrimp, seasoned with Old Bay or your favorite spice blend, become perfectly crispy and juicy without excess oil thanks to the air fryer’s efficient cooking. The fresh cabbage slaw adds a creamy yet tangy crunch, enhanced by pickled jalapenos, lime juice, and a combination of mayonnaise and ranch dressing to provide richness without overwhelming carbs. This balance of textures and flavors creates a refreshing complement to the shrimp. One important tip for maintaining keto compliance is the choice of tortillas. Opt for low-carb tortillas, such as Carb Balance, which keep the net carbs to around 7 grams per serving, making this dish friendly for ketogenic dieters. For calorie-conscious eaters, the nutritional profile is also appealing — the tacos offer a good mix of protein (34g per serving) and fats (16.2g), which help keep you full longer. To customize this recipe further, consider adding avocado slices or a sprinkle of cheese to increase healthy fats. You can also swap the mayo and ranch dressing combo in the slaw for Greek yogurt to reduce fat and add probiotics. If you prefer a spicier kick, jalapenos can be increased or replaced with fresh chopped serranos. This recipe also supports flexible ingredient substitutions. For instance, if you are not a fan of Old Bay seasoning, a mix of smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne can replicate the zesty flavor. While shrimp is the star protein here, small firm fish or chicken strips can also be air fried similarly for variety. Overall, air fryer shrimp tacos with slaw embody a quick, nutritious, and delicious meal option that is perfectly aligned with keto and low-carb dietary goals. The blend of crisp shrimp and tangy slaw inside warm, soft tortillas satisfies cravings while keeping your nutritional targets in check.
