The Latter is Greater than the Former!!
God often has to empty us first so He can fill us correctly.
The jars had to be empty before they could be filled—and what Jesus produced was better than what was there before. Why? Because God Himself orchestrated the provision.
God will not come in and work over what someone else authored.
Just like you can’t walk into a nail shop and ask them to fix work they didn’t do—they’ll ask, “Who did your nails?” and send you back to the source.
🔥 God is the Originator.
He doesn’t patch old systems.
He doesn’t share His glory.
And He doesn’t build on foundations He didn’t lay.
That’s why He allows the emptying—of pride, control, old methods, and self-reliance—so He can step in and do it His way.
And when God does it?
🕊️ The latter is ALWAYS better than the former.
From my personal journey, embracing the idea that 'the latter is greater than the former' has been liberating. It took me a while to understand that sometimes we must first let go of control and pride, much like empty jars, to be filled with something better. This concept resonates deeply with the analogy of the new wine—God’s provision cannot be contained or patched into old vessels or methods. When I applied this to my daily life, I realized that trying to fix or improve what wasn’t originally mine just led to frustration. Instead, by allowing God to empty my heart of old habits and misplaced self-reliance, I opened myself up to fresh perspectives and growth that were far beyond my initial expectations. It reminded me that God is the true Originator; He honors His designs and refuses to share His glory by merely renovating past efforts. In practical terms, this meant surrendering my need to micromanage outcomes and trusting God’s timing and methods, even when they differed from my plans. The experience taught me patience and faith, showing that God’s plans often surpass our own when we allow His process. This transformation isn’t always comfortable but yields lasting fulfillment. For anyone feeling stuck or overwhelmed by the weight of their past or old ways, this mindset shift can be a source of hope. By embracing God’s emptying and filling process, we become vessels ready for His abundant blessings, reaffirming that truly, the latter is always greater than the former.
