Some thoughts as a newish influencer

Attending events is a privilege, yet a disproportionate part of this job.

We feel obligated to post about events because well, events are gorgeous. But it's like an team offsite- how often do we actually attend events vs filming, editing and engaging with community?

Yet it feels like such an overwhelming part of the job because of the sheer amount of peer pressure. Doing what I do best, producing the best beauty content for my girlies here is what this job actually is.

While the glitz is undeniable, the reality behind the scenes can be mentally taxing. I’ve noticed that the time spent at events sometimes overshadows the core work of creating meaningful content — filming, editing, and connecting with my audience. One major challenge is overcoming the insecurity of being judged on appearance, especially in places like LA where beauty standards feel extra demanding. At these events, you’re surrounded by models and seasoned influencers, which can make even the most confident creator second-guess themselves. I’ve personally struggled with this, recognizing that my worth isn’t tied solely to how I look but to the genuine value I provide through my content. Another hurdle is the expectation to always post about event experiences. While beautiful settings and products offer great visuals, not every brand or product I encounter resonates with me. Being honest about this without jeopardizing professional relationships is tricky, but authenticity ultimately strengthens trust with followers. I remind myself it’s okay not to love everything; my audience appreciates honesty over forced enthusiasm. Consistency is key in influencer marketing, much like any other business strategy. Setting realistic goals, like dedicating focused blocks of time to work and then allowing myself to unwind, helps maintain mental balance. Learning to ``lock in'' for 30 minutes to engage or create, then stepping away to recharge, has greatly improved my workflow and reduced burnout. Ultimately, the essence of my job is connecting with my community and producing quality beauty content that empowers and inspires. Events can be exciting milestones but shouldn’t define my success. If you’re new or feeling overwhelmed, remember that growth is a journey and staying true to your passion and audience matters most.
