Traveling to see friends I've made through the BL community has always been a dream of mine, especially given how meaningful these connections have become over time. Like many, I’ve found that the internet can unexpectedly build bridges across continents, making it possible to form friendships that feel deeply personal even if miles apart. For me, the priority is not just visiting popular tourist spots but genuinely immersing myself in the local culture and sharing moments with those I care about. For example, traveling to Australia to visit a best friend would mean savoring local foods together, exploring nearby sites, and enjoying the rare chance to hug in person — something not easily replicated online. The long journey and time off work can be daunting, but these hurdles make the eventual reunion all the more special. Apart from Australia, other destinations like Thailand and Vietnam hold great appeal for their vibrant culture and cuisine. Experiencing these countries alongside friends from the community would combine wanderlust with the shared passion that originally brought us together. Even attending a K-pop show while there could be a bonus, though it’s not my main focus. What stands out most in these travel dreams is the chance to create a 'BL world tour' — meeting friends across continents including Denmark, England, Nigeria, and Kenya. This global perspective reflects not just a love of the genre but a powerful reminder of fandom’s ability to connect diverse people. Ultimately, traveling in this way is about more than sightseeing; it’s about the human connections, the stories shared, and the memories forged face-to-face that truly enrich the experience. Though such trips require planning, time, and often sacrifice, the excitement of meeting dear friends and exploring new cultures makes every effort worthwhile.
