Consistency Lies

“Consistency is key,” they say. But consistency assumes your health is predictable. Mine isn’t. My body doesn’t do 9-to-5. That’s why my consistency is outsourced—funded, not forced.

Let’s be honest: the entire business world worships at the altar of consistency. Post daily. Sell daily. Show up daily. If you miss one day, you’re told you’ll “fall behind forever.” And if you’re disabled, autistic, ADHD, or living with chronic illness, that pressure feels like a slow death. Because our health does not work on a schedule.

Some weeks, I can create and execute like a machine. Other weeks, I’m wiped out by POTS flares, hormonal crashes, or bone-deep fatigue that no planner hack can fix. And every time I fall out of “consistency,” shame whispers that I’m broken. But here’s the truth: consistency isn’t about showing up the same way every day. It’s about building a system that keeps showing up even when you can’t.

That’s where grants flip the game. They let me hire help to keep the wheels turning when I can’t sit upright. They let me automate tasks so my absence doesn’t equal collapse. They let me create revenue that flows whether I’m online or offline. My business still breathes, even when I’m on day three of lying in bed.

So if you’ve ever told yourself, “I’ll never make it because I can’t be consistent,” hear this: your health doesn’t disqualify you. It just means you need a different strategy. The problem isn’t your inconsistency—it’s a system that worships neurotypical productivity while ignoring everyone else.

Your path doesn’t have to look like theirs to be valid. And you don’t need a perfect streak to build something that lasts.
