well i did it
i got my nexplanon implant! thank you to everyone who commented on my last post, all the words of encouragement and horror stories alike lol. so all in all the procedure took about 10 mins (5 minutes was waiting for the numbing to activate). my doctor was very patient and answered all my questions. the actual insertion felt like nothing, the shot was the only part that hurt and even that was not bad at all. my arm is a little sore today but nothing worse than that of a typical flu shot. i know the real adventure begins now so i’ll try to do updates with how i’m feeling hormone wise and what not. again thanks for all the support!

The Nexplanon implant is a popular long-acting reversible contraceptive that offers effective birth control for up to three years. It provides a convenient option for women seeking to prevent pregnancy without daily attention. Understanding how Nexplanon works is crucial; it releases a hormone called etonogestrel that inhibits ovulation, thickens cervical mucus, and thins the uterine lining to prevent fertilization. For those considering the implant, it's essential to have an open conversation with your healthcare provider about any concerns or questions you might have. Many women report varying experiences with potential side effects such as changes in menstrual cycles, mood swings, and hormonal adjustments, which may take time to stabilize post-insertion. As you navigate this journey, connecting with others who have shared similar experiences through forums or support groups can provide comfort and insight. The birth control community is filled with patients sharing their stories and encouraging one another. Remember to frequently check in with your provider to monitor your health and adjust if necessary. Your comfort and health are paramount in this journey.

Good job !! I have heart failure & epilepsy so my doc said I can’t have any more kids than I already have so I had to get on nexplanon. It’s not too bad. But as soon as you get it out, you have a high chance of getting pregnant 1-4 month later
