NYE getaway in Belize 🌴🌊
#belize #nye #quickgetaway #travel Belize
📍Location: San Pedro, Belize (Ambergris Caye)
How to get there:
• Fly into airport BZE (Belize City)
• Hop to the island via plane or ferry
• I fly Tropic Air, it’s a 15 min flight from BZE to Central San Pedro
Good Part:
• There is one main road that takes you up and down the entire island. I call it “the bumpy road”
• The exchange rate is $1 USD to $2 BZD (so $20 US dollars is $40 Belizean dollars)
• The “town” is considered central San Pedro where most of the action is happening
Must See Places:
• Secret Beach (30 min NW of Town)
• Tropical Beach Cafe (say hey to Ronnie! / 25 min NE of Town) IG: tropical_escape_restaurant
• Carambas (daily fresh catch cooked to perfection! / in Town)
• Tropical Paradise Restaurant & Bar for the Mango Ginger Mojito & grilled lobster (15 min N of Town in the right hand side)
Need To Note:
• Check the weather, there are very rainy seasons and the weather changes often throughout the day
• Rent a golf cart so you can explore. Try Beez Belize Rentals. Sandra is great!
My absolute favorite part of any Belize trip, especially during NYE, is chasing those magical sunset moments. You know, the kind where the sky explodes in fiery oranges and purples, reflecting off the calm turquoise waters? It's pure bliss! While the article already touched on some incredible spots, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into how you can really maximize your sunset lounge experience in San Pedro. First off, timing is everything. Around 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM is typically prime sunset viewing time, but always check a local app or ask around as it shifts slightly throughout the year. Don't just show up right at sunset; I recommend arriving at least an hour beforehand. This gives you time to snag a good spot, settle in with a refreshing drink, and watch the pre-show as the colors begin to change. When thinking about a 'sunset lounge,' it's not always a formal establishment with that exact name. Often, it's a beachside bar, a restaurant with an ocean deck, or even just a perfectly placed stretch of sand with some comfy lounge chairs. For instance, the OCR mentioned a 'scenic view of a beach in Belize at sunset, featuring palm trees, lounge chairs, and the ocean' – that's the vibe you're looking for! My go-to strategy usually involves finding a place that offers both stunning views and delicious refreshments. Speaking of refreshments, you absolutely HAVE to try the local cocktails. At places like Tropical Paradise Restaurant & Bar (where I enjoyed that amazing Mango Ginger Mojito!), you can sip on expertly crafted drinks while watching the sun dip below the horizon. The OCR also highlighted a Piña Colada – another fantastic choice for a tropical sunset. Imagine sipping one of those, feeling the warm breeze, and listening to the gentle lapping of waves. It’s truly unforgettable. And don't forget the food! Many of these beachside spots, which double as fantastic sunset lounges, also serve incredible fresh seafood. The article mentioned Carambas for fresh catch, and I personally loved the grilled lobster with rice and vegetables, and that shrimp ceviche in a conch shell from Tropical Escape Restaurant, both featured in my photos. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a freshly caught meal under a painted sky. Another pro tip: consider what kind of ambiance you prefer. Some spots are livelier with music and a buzzing crowd, perfect for a celebratory NYE vibe. Others are more tranquil and intimate, ideal for a romantic evening or quiet reflection. Secret Beach, for example, is famous for its chill, bohemian atmosphere, and while it's on the west side for perfect sunsets, it's a bit further out. Make sure you rent a golf cart from Beez Belize Rentals (Sandra really is great!) to get there comfortably. Exploring the island on your own terms adds so much to the adventure. Finally, don't be afraid to explore beyond the obvious. Sometimes the best 'sunset lounge' is simply a quiet stretch of beach you stumble upon, where you can just sit on the sand and take it all in. The beauty of Belize is its natural charm, and those spontaneous sunset moments are often the most memorable. Just be sure to have your camera ready – those skies are something else!
