30’s Era

Is it really the make or break of your life once you turn.. 🤢 th 🤢 thirrr… oh come on it’s not THAT hard to say! Are we… dare I say it? OLD?!

I mean yes… and NOT EVEN CLOSE!

Here’s what I’ve learned over the past 5 years of living in this specific season of womanhood. Keep in mind, I’m a widowed SAHM with so much life experience none of us should ever have to go through from childhood until now… so naturally my experience won’t be everyone’s experience. So take the following how you will.

3 things I’ve learned to let go of:

🍋 People Pleasing as a form of being “in control”. Turns out it not only was manipulation in attempt towards HOPEFULLY never being abandoned but was inherently self deprecating due to my lack of trust in myself.

🍋 Comparison - there’s no sure way to kill your own joy & peace than to compare yourself to others, especially via social media where everyone seems to choose the route of hiding behind whatever artificial curation they have clung to. Piling on filters, AI tools, and meticulous posts that amplify & sometimes exaggerate only the happy/positive/successful moments in their life.

🍋 Victim Mentality. This is one I never really considered to be applicable to me until I really started doing some inner child healing, even before I was born again. It literally serves no good. Find the lessons and apply them!

3 things I’ve learned are OKAY:

🍋 Changing Your Mind… MULTIPLE TIMES! Even if you’ve thought those last 10 years were the building blocks of the life you wanted. It may not be “the easy way” but it’s definitely fulfilling when you apply yourself with discipline & are prepared with fall backs just in case.

🍋 Aesthetics aren’t a necessity. Fun ways to express yourself are not a one and done. You have more depth than you realize and putting yourself in a box is stifling even if it’s comfortable.

🍋 Not having life figured out. I’m 35 and STILL am learning who I am. That’s the beauty of aging, it’s not just physical. We grow into multiple versions of ourselves over time with experience. So don’t allow the culture to shame you into feeling inadequate.

3 things I’ve learned to Embrace:

🍋 Aging! It’s a beautiful gift meant to teach us Grace towards ourselves in the gentlest way. Depending on our own life choices of course. God makes no mistakes. You are fearfully and wonderfully made by a Perfect God. Even if you cannot connect on that level, it still holds truth. Your beauty is something to be in awe of, especially when it comes to how you view your vessel.

🍋 Body changes. While yes, staying active is necessary our bodies aren’t meant to look like we’re barely legal forever. Unfortunately mainstream pop culture is poison & we’re forced to be surrounded by it daily. Make sure to constantly evaluate the content you take in, guard your minds, guard your hearts.

3 things I would tell my 20 year old self:

🍋Seek Jesus! The only way we will be able to truly guard ourselves from the evils of the world is through him. It may not be easy to hear so please, ask believers to pray in intercession for your personal connection with our Savior, and then pray with a sincere heart to be shown the truth through the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Read the Bible for yourself & don’t allow religious trauma to turn you away from Christ. The world will tell you different.

🍋You are worthy. Point blank. There’s nothing those people are doing to bring you down that holds any value because it’s coming from a place of lack within them.

🍋Forgive. It’s devastating to hold all of that resentment in. Your body will pay for it. Your mental health will pay for it. Your spirit will pay for it. The inability to forgive is a breeding ground for long term toxic decisions.

3 things to Look Forward to:

🍋 Contrary to the notion that life ends in your 30s a whole new life begins. You may already be in the midst of raising a family, beginning to create your family, a new level of career has opened up, and the desire to have more peace in your life truly starts to become a priority.

🍋 Your joints may begin to ache but your energy levels start taking a more adventurous viewpoint. Whatever that may mean to you. It’s no longer about working until the weekend to party but more so looking to manage your time to do the fun stuff that partying could never compare to.

🍋 Releasing the need to “fit in”. Now, let’s be honest, that itch is still going to be there. It’s a process… which is what’s made me understand the “just wait until you’re 40, you won’t care what people think anymore;” all of the wise older ladies have always liked to tell me in my younger years. Though, I think for the majority of the world, I might be a little early on this one. 😜

If you enjoyed this read and can relate in some way, no matter your age, go ahead and let me know in the comments if this is content you’d enjoy seeing more of. Also any other tips you’d love to leave for the younger generations that may come by please don’t hesitate to share it with us here!

... Read moreTurning 30 is often surrounded by societal pressures and expectations, leading many to question their life choices. However, this decade can be transformative and fulfilling. Embracing the concept of aging allows for personal growth and self-discovery. It’s a time to shed self-deprecating habits like people-pleasing and comparing oneself to others on social media, which can stifle personal joy. Many individuals in their 30s embark on journeys of self-acceptance, realizing that life doesn’t end at this milestone but opens doors to new experiences and insights. This era encourages redefining values, allowing for change multiple times as life unfolds. Embracing body changes and shifting priorities, from nightlife to meaningful family time, becomes essential. Seeking inner peace and understanding one’s worth is crucial. Releasing the need to fit into societal boxes shifts perspectives, ultimately leading to a more genuine life experience. As support systems are built, connecting with others in similar life stages fosters community, allowing for shared growth and understanding. Sharing insights and encouraging dialogue across generations empowers individuals to navigate life’s complexities together. Whether you are in your 30s or reflecting back on them, remember that every stage of life holds unique lessons and beautiful opportunities for growth.
