My natural hair stresses me out..here’s why
My hair stresses me out……even after being natural for 10 years.
& I want to work through that. I’ve always found myself feeling stressed and overwhelmed on wash day and for good reason!
I still don’t know what products work well for my hair type and porosity & constantly have knots tangles and shedding. (Plus I have PCOS yay)
The shrinkage is crazyyyy plus low porosity gets me down sometimes
I find myself falling into the trap that is texturism when all I see under natural hair posts is the B curl girlies with super loose & defined curls.
I wish mine was easier to manage but it’s just what it is lol I am working to healing my relationship with my hair, to grow it and keep it healthy and to not dread wash day SO much
On my healing journey, I want to identify these type of things and really work on it. This braid out was step 1 for me.
I fight the urge every time to just wear it straight tbh 😂 but you will see my natural more this year!

Caring for natural hair can often lead to feelings of stress and frustration, especially when dealing with issues like shrinkage and porosity. Many individuals with natural hair, particularly those with textured hair types, may find themselves overwhelmed by the sheer volume of products and recommendations available. It’s important to identify what works best for your specific hair type, and understanding your hair’s porosity can significantly influence product choices. Additionally, natural hair care can be further complicated by societal standards that prioritize certain textures over others, often leading to feelings of inadequacy. Embracing your unique curl pattern and challenging the prevalent beauty norms can be a pivotal step towards self-acceptance. As you embark on your healing journey, consider documenting your progress, from wash day routines to styling techniques like braid-outs, which can enhance your natural texture while minimizing stress. By focusing on personal growth and rediscovering the joy of caring for your natural hair, you can build a healthier relationship with it over time. Remember, you're not alone in this; many others share similar experiences and challenges that can be tackled together!
