Weekly cleaning 🧽 that saves me $$ on repairs

These are the things I clean weekly to avoid having to call a maintenance man or anyone else to repair things in my home that could become costly.

The ice that overflows whenever the lights go out or other things happen builds up at the bottom of my freezer. Sometimes it makes the door hard to close and leads to air leaking. I cleaned that as well as around the ice area for things like spills.

I try to clean the drains often and the lint trap every time I wash and dry clothes, especially inside the bottom of the lit trap

For instance, ice overload at the bottom of your freezer can cause the door to seal improperly, leading to air leaks that increase energy consumption and may cause food spoilage. By routinely removing excess ice and cleaning spill areas around the freezer, you maintain optimal efficiency. Sink drains often accumulate hair and debris, which can cause slow drainage or clogs if left unmanaged. Cleaning the drain weekly helps prevent blockages and costly plumber visits. Using a drain cover can also reduce hair accumulation. The lint trap in your dryer is another critical area to maintain. Lint buildup inside and beneath the lint trap can reduce drying efficiency, increase energy use, and pose fire hazards. Cleaning it after every use and occasionally vacuuming the area beneath ensures safe and effective dryer operation. By adopting these targeted cleaning habits—including freezer ice removal, drain clearing, and lint trap maintenance—you not only save money on repairs but also extend the lifespan of your appliances, lower energy bills, and create a healthier home environment. Incorporate these steps into your weekly routine for effortless home maintenance and peace of mind.
