Valentine’s Day learning activity for toddlers

I was searching pinterest this morning for Valentine’s Day learning activities and was inspired to make this instead. I combined a few ideas I liked together to create this.

Wanted to share because it came out so cute and I love a good cute but also educational find. 😊 Right now I have one toddler learning letter recognition and the other learning letter sound correspondence so this is a perfect craft because it can teach both.

What you’ll need:

♥️Empty egg carton

♥️Black marker

♥️Pink and red paper (or let’s be honest, any color will be super cute)

♥️Heart stamp (or pen and scissors to free hand)

What to do:

🤍write a letter in each space of the egg carton (we’re doing lower case today)

🤍stamp (or cut) out 26 hearts in the paper.

🤍write a letter of the alphabet on each heart

🤍spread hearts out with letters face up

🤍let your toddler find the match

That’s it!! 🥰 Super easy to set up and super fun for the kids. Kept mine busy for about an hour.

... Read moreValentine's Day is a fantastic opportunity to engage toddlers in learning activities that are both enjoyable and educational. Crafting activities that incorporate letter recognition and sound correspondence help develop literacy skills in young children. For this Valentine's Day learning activity, you'll need an empty egg carton, a black marker, pink and red paper (or any color), and a heart stamp (or scissors for freehand cutting). Begin by writing a lowercase letter in each section of the egg carton, creating a playful way to practice letter matching. You can also cut out hearts from the paper and write a corresponding letter on each one. Once prepared, spread out the hearts with letters facing up and let your toddler find the matches. This simple, effective activity not only keeps them entertained but also reinforces their learning in a fun setting. To tailor the experience, adjust the letters for your child's learning level and encourage them to say the letters out loud, making it a multisensory experience. Consider documenting this activity and sharing the results on platforms like Lemon8 to inspire other parents and caregivers. Engaging in such educational play helps toddlers with their cognitive development while also making learning fun and festive during this special holiday!
