I do not respect people who do not respect me. It is not pride speaking, and it is not coldness either. They call it ego because it makes them uncomfortable. I call it self respect because I learned the cost of staying silent for too long.

Loving myself did not make me harder, it made me honest. I will always meet kindness with kindness, but I will never shrink to be accepted. Respect is the bare minimum, and I finally learned how to ask for it without apologizing.

... Read moreThrough my own journey, I found that self-respect is not about ego or pride, but about valuing your own worth enough to set clear boundaries. There was a time I remained silent when others disrespected me, thinking it was polite or avoidant of conflict. However, I realized that silence often led to resentment and diminished self-worth. Learning to speak up honestly was transformative. It wasn't about being harder or colder; it was about being true to myself and recognizing respect as a fundamental right, not a privilege. In practice, this meant I stopped shrinking myself to please others or seeking validation through their approval. Instead, I approached relationships with kindness but refused to tolerate disrespect. This balance became a powerful way to preserve my integrity and foster genuine connections. Asking for respect without apologizing felt empowering—a way to communicate my boundaries clearly and healthily. If you’re struggling with respecting yourself or setting boundaries, start small. Reflect on moments where you felt unheard or diminished. Practice expressing your feelings and needs calmly and directly. Over time, this cultivates a mindset that values honesty, kindness, and mutual respect. Remember, self-respect isn’t about pushing others away but about inviting authentic, respectful engagement. It’s a daily practice that protects your emotional well-being and enriches your relationships.

If you don't love yourself you can't truly love another so never let anyone try to make you feel bad for loving yourself. If someone doesn't understand that they are not for you
