Prayers I like to say when i’m stressed

I follow Alan on instagram because I really enjoy his content and the things he posts. I do not know him personally but he seems like someone I would enjoy having around. He made a post recently about prayers you can say when you anxious and another one for when you feel like you’re drifting away from The Lord. I get stressed out with school, relationships, and responsibilities and I feel like these prayers help me. If you’re a christian I recommend checking out his content!

... Read moreIt’s easy to feel overwhelmed, right? For me, balancing school, friendships, and just life in general can sometimes feel like too much. When those moments hit, I used to just spiral, but I’ve learned that turning to prayer makes a world of difference. It's not just about reciting words; it's about connecting and finding a quiet space in your mind, a moment of spiritual grounding amidst the chaos. One verse that truly resonates with me, and I saw AlanYiJie share it, is Psalm 23. Just thinking, "The Lord is my shepherd; I have all I need," instantly calms me. It’s like a gentle reminder that I'm cared for, and everything will be okay. Sometimes I just repeat "The Lord is my shepherd" on an inhale and "I have all I need" on an exhale, and it's like a mini meditation. It shifts my focus from what I don't have or what's going wrong, to the abundance and care already present in my life. Another powerful one is 1 Peter 5:7: "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." This one is huge for me. When I’m drowning in worries about a test, a relationship, or future plans, I literally try to visualize myself handing those burdens over. It’s a huge relief to remember I don’t have to carry it all alone. Just saying, "I give you my worries," and then "For you care about me" helps me surrender what I can't control. And then there's Jeremiah 29:12, "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." This verse is such an assurance. Sometimes when I'm stressed, I feel like my prayers aren't heard, or I'm not articulating things correctly. But this reminds me that God wants me to call on Him, and He will listen. It encourages me to just talk to Him, no matter how messy my thoughts are, knowing my Heavenly Father is always there. Finally, Ephesians 1:11 brings such a sense of purpose: "In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will." This verse helps me remember that even in chaos, there's a divine plan. It’s comforting to know that God chose me and will work everything out. It helps me trust the process even when things feel uncertain. Beyond these specific verses, sometimes I just say a simple "Heavenly Father, please help me find peace," or "Lord, guide my thoughts." Don't feel like your prayers have to be long or perfectly worded. The beauty of prayer for stress relief is its simplicity and sincerity. You can pray while walking, before bed, or even just for a few seconds when you feel a wave of anxiety. My biggest tip? Don't wait until you're completely overwhelmed. Try to weave short moments of prayer into your daily routine. Maybe it's a quick prayer of gratitude in the morning, or a moment of stillness before starting a difficult task. These small acts can build up your spiritual resilience, making it easier to cope when bigger stressors come along. Remember, prayer isn't a magic fix, but it's a powerful tool for finding calm and connection when life gets tough. It’s about building that relationship and leaning into faith.
