Hey amazing Lemon8 fam! Building on my initial post about my beloved OCs, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into the world of original character creation, especially since so many of you seem to love seeing fresh designs! It's truly a passion project for me, and I find so much joy in bringing these personalities to life through my art. You saw a peek at some of my characters like the intriguing Sallou, with her distinctive style, or the vibrant Sammy, who always brings a splash of color to my canvas. Then there's Stella, my private school student, and even Seth, the 'insane' 5-year-old – each one has a story waiting to be told! And yes, reimagining characters, like my human Foxy from FNAF, is also a super fun exercise in fan art creativity. Sometimes, people wonder how OCs come to be, or how they fit into bigger narratives, like roleplay or fanfiction. For me, it often starts with a simple 'scribble' – an idea sparks, a gesture, a mood, and then I start fleshing it out. These initial sketches are raw but hold so much potential. It's like finding a treasure map where the treasure is a fully-formed character! I love how a quick drawing, even a simple 'Flower' sun sketch, can evolve into something more. And speaking of narratives, have you ever thought about how OCs interact? It’s not just about individual designs; a huge part of the fun is imagining their relationships. Whether it’s best friends, rivals, or even 'rp couples' that develop as stories unfold, those dynamics add so much depth. For example, maybe Nick, who's 'obsessed with his ex,' eventually finds a new connection, or Olivia's preferences lead her to an unexpected partner. The possibilities are endless when you start thinking about their world! Creating art of OCs in different scenarios, sometimes just quick 'scribble manips' to visualize a moment, is incredibly satisfying. It helps you understand their personality and how they'd react to others. The beauty of the OC community is how we all inspire each other. Seeing other artists' original characters, whether they're fantasy creatures or everyday people, always sparks new ideas for my own. It's a wonderful space for sharing and collaborating, and even for developing intricate backstories that might involve heroic feats or dramatic personal struggles. Sometimes, even the smallest detail in a character's design, like Sallou's patterned top or Sammy's clock, can become a key part of their identity or story. It's amazing to think about how these characters, from a simple sketch to more intricate designs, can spark entire stories and communities.
