Little things that make me happy 🥰
It's funny how often we chase big dreams, aiming for grand achievements and milestone moments, when sometimes, the purest happiness is found in the smallest, most unexpected corners of our day. I've been reflecting a lot lately on what truly brightens my everyday existence, and it really is 'the little things that make me happy.' Sharing some of my simple joys here on Lemon8, hoping they might resonate with you too, and perhaps inspire you to notice your own daily delights! One of my absolute favorites is bringing a touch of nature indoors. There's something incredibly uplifting and soul-soothing about a fresh bouquet. Just last week, I picked up some beautiful, vibrant red carnations mixed with delicate white baby's breath. Having them in a clear glass vase on my kitchen counter instantly adds a pop of color, a gentle fragrance, and a sense of calm to my whole space. It’s such a small expense for such a huge mood boost – a constant reminder of beauty. Then there’s the sheer joy of creating something nourishing in the kitchen. I love experimenting with healthy, comforting meals, especially after a long day. There’s a certain satisfaction in methodically chopping up colorful vegetables like fresh, crunchy broccoli, vibrant sweet potatoes, and crisp red bell peppers, then carefully arranging them in a sturdy glass baking dish before sliding it into the preheated oven. The warm, savory aroma that fills the air as they roast is just divine, and knowing I'm nourishing my body with something delicious and homemade is incredibly fulfilling. It truly turns a routine chore into a mindful, happy moment. Beyond flowers and cooking, my list of little joys is ever-growing. It could be the first glorious sip of my morning coffee or tea while watching the sunrise paint the sky, or the unexpected warmth from a ray of sun hitting my face through the window. I find immense peace in a quiet evening spent curled up with a good book, completely lost in another world, or even just putting on my favorite upbeat playlist and dancing around the living room like no one's watching. These impromptu moments of self-expression are pure magic. Sometimes, happiness is found in connecting with others – a thoughtful text from a friend checking in, a genuine compliment received or given, or a quick, friendly chat with a neighbor while getting the mail. And other times, it's about connecting with myself: enjoying a warm bath with soothing essential oils, spending a few minutes in mindful meditation, or simply taking a slow, intentional walk in the park, noticing the rustling leaves and the cheerful chirping birds. These aren't grand gestures or life-altering events, but they are powerful enough to collectively shift my perspective, calm my mind, and remind me of the deep beauty and abundance present in everyday life. It’s all about being present and truly appreciating these simple pleasures. I genuinely believe cultivating awareness of these small joys can make a profound difference.
