レイラ・ヴラディはドイツ生まれの芸術家で、現在はサンフランシスコを拠点に活動している。これまでにArtifact NYC、LA Art Show、Frieze Seoul、Art Basel、Christie’s、ファン・ゴッホ美術館、そしてシェーンブルン・グループとの協働によるシシィ博物館などで作品が紹介されてきた。

ハンブルクとティンメンドルファー・シュトランドの間で育ったヴラディは、幼少期から美術学校で才能を示し、いくつもの展覧会に参加した。家庭の事情により転居を繰り返したため、長く続く友情を築くことが難しく、彼女の子ども時代は多くの時間を孤独の中で過ごしたという。この不安定さは、後に自身の芸術的アイデンティティを形づくる源となり、最終的にカリフォルニアへ渡り、芸術家としての道を本格的に歩み始めた。

ヴラディの作品は「視覚詩」とも呼べる独自の世界観を持ち、過去と未来、日常と神秘、現実と幻想を軽やかに行き来しながら、人々の想像力を深く刺激する。アニメやゲーム、ロマン派の詩、日本の民話など、多様なインスピレーションを取り込み、デジタルキャンバスを魔法的な変容の場として再構築している。

作品には、夢のような風景や幽玄な人物像、月の代わりに空に浮かぶガラスの球体、花と蝶が炎や骸骨と共存する世界など、幻想と現実が交錯する瞬間が描かれている。硬質な造形と柔らかな筆致が同じ画面の中で呼応し、緊張感と静けさが同時に漂う。

これらの“捉えられた一瞬”は、人間が抱えうる感情の幅広さと複雑さを静かに物語り、相反する感情が同時に存在しうることを示している。彼女の作品は、日常から一歩離れ、想像力の広がる世界へと観る者を誘う招待状である。

Layla Vladi ist eine in Deutschland geborene Digitalkünstlerin, die heute in San Francisco lebt und arbeitet. Ihre Werke wurden unter anderem bei Artifact NYC, der LA Art Show, Frieze Seoul, Art Basel, Christie’s, im Van Gogh Museum sowie im Sisi Museum in Zusammenarbeit mit der Schönbrunn Group präsentiert.

Aufgewachsen zwischen Hamburg und Timmendorfer Strand zeigte Vladi schon früh außergewöhnliches künstlerisches Talent und nahm während ihrer Schulzeit an mehreren Ausstellungen teil. Durch die häufigen Umzüge ihrer Familie fehlte es ihr an stabilen sozialen Beziehungen; viele ihrer Kindheitsjahre waren von Einsamkeit geprägt. Diese frühen Erfahrungen formten den Kern ihrer künstlerischen Identität und führten sie schließlich nach Kalifornien, wo sie ihren Weg als Künstlerin konsequent weiterverfolgte.

Vladis Arbeiten, die sie selbst als eine Form von „visueller Poesie“ begreift, bewegen sich zwischen Vergangenheit und Zukunft, zwischen Alltäglichem und Mystischem, zwischen Wirklichkeit und Surrealität. Inspiriert von Anime, Videospielen, romantischer Lyrik und japanischer Folklore verwandelt sie die digitale Leinwand in einen alchemistischen Raum, in dem das Magische sichtbar wird.

Ihre Bildwelten sind geprägt von träumerischen Landschaften und geisterhaften Figuren; von schimmernden Sphären, die anstelle von Monden am Himmel schweben; von Blumen und Schmetterlingen, die ebenso selbstverständlich erscheinen wie Feuer und Schädel. Harte geometrische Formen treffen auf federleichte Pinselstriche und schaffen Momente, die Spannung und Stille zugleich in sich tragen.

Diese eingefangenen Augenblicke spiegeln die Vielfalt menschlicher Emotionen wider und zeigen, wie zwei gegensätzliche Gefühle im selben Moment existieren können. Jedes ihrer Werke ist eine Einladung, den Alltag hinter sich zu lassen und sich einer Welt des Fantastischen hinzugeben.

Layla Vladi is a German-born visual artist currently based in San Francisco. Her work has been featured in Artifact NYC, LA Art Show, Frieze Seoul, Art Basel, Christie’s, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Sisi Museum in collaboration with the Schönbrunn Group.

Growing up between Hamburg and Timmendorfer Strand. Throughout her formative years, Vladi excelled in art school and participated in several art exhibits. Her family moved from place to place often when she was young, which did not allow for lasting friendships and as a result her childhood was a largely solitary one. Vladi would later credit the instability in her early life with the birth of her artistic identity, finally settling in California to pursue a career in art.

Vladi’s brand of “visual poetry” reaches into every corner of the human imagination, blurring the lines between the past and future, the mundane and mystical, the real and surreal. Drawing inspiration from sources as vast and varied as anime and video games, Romantic poetry and Japanese folklore, she turns the digital canvas into a place of alchemy where magical possibilities come alive. Her work features imagined worlds full of dreamy landscapes and haunted figures, where glassy orbs hover in the sky instead of moons. Where flowers and butterflies proliferate as much as skulls and fire. Where hard-edged shapes meet feather-soft brush strokes.

These captured moments often hold tension and quietude in equal measure, a testament to the endless spectrum of the human experience and our ability to feel two polar opposite emotions at once. Each work is an invitation to leave behind the everyday and give yourself over to the fantastic.
