Trying 30 yr old eyeshadow palette part 2

Okay, so you saw Part 1, and now for the big reveal in Part 2 of my 30-year-old eyeshadow palette adventure! I know, I know, using makeup from three decades ago sounds a bit wild, right? But when I stumbled upon this 'Nudes-a-Poppin' palette, I just had to see if it still had any life left in it. My biggest fear, honestly? Eye irritation! But curiosity definitely won out, and I'm so glad it did, because this vintage gem truly surprised me. Let me tell you, I was absolutely shocked by the pigments. I mean, truly shocked! For a palette that’s older than some of my friends, the color payoff was incredible. The 'nude' shades – those beautiful browns and subtle shimmers – were actually vibrant and buttery smooth. I picked up a matte taupe first, expecting it to be chalky, but it blended like a dream. Then I went for one of the shimmery 'pop' shades, a gorgeous rose gold, and it applied with such intensity. I didn't even need to wet my brush! It got me thinking about how makeup formulations have evolved, but some classics really do hold up. Of course, before even thinking about putting this on my eyes as part of my trying 30 yr old eyeshadow palette project, I did some serious homework. Using old makeup isn't something to take lightly. I sprayed the pan surfaces with 70% isopropyl alcohol and let them air dry completely. I also gave it a good sniff test – thankfully, no weird smells, which is usually a red flag! And I always recommend doing a patch test on your arm first, just to be safe. Luckily, as I mentioned in the original post, my eyes felt completely fine, no burning or itching whatsoever through the day. This palette seems to have aged gracefully! I wore a full eye look using only the 'Nudes-a-Poppin' palette for about eight hours. I expected it to fade or crease, especially without a modern primer, but it held up surprisingly well! The colors stayed true, and while there was a slight bit of fading by the end of the day, it wasn't anything dramatic. It really makes you appreciate the quality of some vintage products. While newer palettes offer more innovative textures and longer wear, this experience proved that sometimes, old-school charm still packs a punch. It’s not an everyday go-to for me, of course, but it was a fascinating experiment to see if those 'nudes' could still 'pop' after all these years. And they definitely did! So, would I recommend you raid your grandma's vanity for a 30-year-old palette? Maybe not without caution! But if you happen to find a forgotten gem like this 'Nudes-a-Poppin' palette, and it passes the sniff and patch tests, it could be a fun, nostalgic trip. Just remember to prioritize safety above all else. This whole experience has really opened my eyes (pun intended!) to the longevity of quality makeup and the fun of experimenting with vintage finds.
