& I’ll pick to attend my HBCU over & over again 🫶🏾 #orlandoclassic #FAMU #hbcugrad
So many people ask me why I chose an HBCU, and specifically Florida A&M University (FAMU). Honestly, it's a decision I would make again and again without a second thought! If you're considering a Historically Black College and University, let me share a little bit about what makes the FAMU experience so incredibly special and why I'm proud to be an #hbcugrad. First off, the sense of community at FAMU is unlike anything I've ever experienced. It’s more than just a school; it’s a family. From the moment you step on campus, you feel a connection, a shared history, and an unwavering support system. This 'FAMUly' bond extends far beyond graduation, creating a powerful network of alumni who are always there to lift each other up. This unique cultural environment truly fosters personal growth and a strong sense of identity. Then there are the traditions and events that define the FAMU experience. One of the absolute highlights has to be something like the ORLANDO CLASSIC. It's not just a football GAME DAY; it's a massive reunion, a vibrant celebration of culture, and an incredible display of Rattler pride. The energy is infectious – the marching bands, the tailgates, the fashion, the camaraderie – it’s an experience you truly have to live to understand. Walking through the stadium, you feel connected to generations of alumni and current students, all united by that special FAMU spirit. And trust me, nothing beats the feeling of a vibrant FAMU GAME DAY on campus, from the pre-game festivities to the roar of the crowd. Beyond the social scene, FAMU offers a rigorous academic environment coupled with dedicated professors who genuinely invest in their students' success. Being in an environment designed to uplift and empower Black students provides a unique perspective and prepares you not just for a career, but for life. The opportunities for leadership, networking, and personal development are abundant. Choosing FAMU was choosing a place where I felt seen, understood, and challenged to be my best self. It's where I found lifelong friends, incredible mentors, and a deep appreciation for my heritage. If you're looking for an educational journey that combines academic excellence with a rich cultural experience and an unbreakable sense of belonging, an HBCU like FAMU might just be the perfect fit for you. I wouldn’t trade my FAMU years for anything!
