when did you start seeing your parents as people?

there’s something tender about realizing your parents were just trying to figure it out too. it doesn’t mean every choice they made was right or that every hurt disappears, but it reframes everything. you start to see the late nights, the quiet sacrifices, and even the moments of silence differently.

it’s not about pretending the past didn’t happen, it’s about seeing the full picture. the version of them before life hardened them. before they had to be strong for someone else. when you begin to understand that, grace grows naturally. it doesn’t erase pain, but it softens it. maybe this is what forgiveness really starts to look like :')

It’s way too personal but I remember the exact moment I saw my mom as a person instead of just being my mom and it was actually a process of taking that in because my perspective towards them changed a lot
