Ronda and Marbella Old Town

After an incredible day exploring Andalusia with my family, I just had to share some of the absolute highlights from our visit to Ronda and a quick stop in Marbella. If you're wondering what to do in Ronda, Spain, let me tell you, this charming clifftop town is packed with unforgettable experiences! Our adventure truly began in Ronda's magnificent Old Town, or 'La Ciudad.' Walking through its ancient, winding streets felt like stepping back in time. Every corner revealed new architectural wonders and breathtaking views. You simply cannot visit Ronda without experiencing the iconic Puente Nuevo (New Bridge). Standing at its edge, gazing down into the El Tajo Gorge, is an awe-inspiring moment. The sheer scale and engineering are incredible, and the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside are truly spectacular. We spent ages just taking it all in, snapping countless photos. It’s definitely one of the top things to see in Ronda! Another must-see Ronda attraction is the historic Plaza de Toros de Ronda, one of Spain's oldest and most beautiful bullrings. Even if you're not a fan of bullfighting, the museum offers a fascinating look into its history and cultural significance. The architecture itself is stunning. Exploring the Old Town further, we stumbled upon charming plazas and hidden courtyards. The Palacio de Mondragón with its beautiful gardens and the Casa del Rey Moro (though its gardens were the main draw for us) offered peaceful retreats and more stunning views. Don't forget to seek out the various 'miradores' or viewpoints scattered throughout the town – each one offers a unique perspective of the gorge and the plains beyond. It’s easy to spend hours just wandering and soaking up the atmosphere. For lunch, we indulged in some delicious local tapas at a small, family-run restaurant tucked away in the Old Town. It’s always wonderful to taste authentic Spanish cuisine right where it's made! The local wine wasn't bad either. While our main focus was Ronda, we also took a short drive to Marbella. Its picturesque Old Town, with its narrow cobbled streets and vibrant orange trees, provided a lovely contrast and a relaxed end to our day. It just goes to show how much beauty and variety Andalusia has to offer. If you're planning your next adventure in Spain, I wholeheartedly recommend putting Ronda at the top of your list. It truly offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Whether you're looking for historical sites, incredible views, or just a charming place to explore, Ronda absolutely delivers.
