How do I save for my first car?

My current job is all over the place.

Our manager walked out on us and we’ve been struggling to keep workers so me and a couple other workers are getting the brunt of the mess.

They call us in whenever another employee calls out without an excuse. So we basically work every day. And the store isn’t getting the work it needs because nobody is doing their job.

The hours and the pay don’t add up.

I can’t afford to quit right now because i need money obviously and I don’t have my own car so I can’t find a new job right now.

My bf takes me to work (we work together) to make it easier but I HATE this job. It’s our first ever job, it was meant to be a starter job for us and I’m ready to leave but he isn’t.

I need my own car so I can quit and find a better job ASAP.

I make $750 on a 7 work full month, $550 on average every month. We also just got 2 new workers hired which helps with the hours but also means that I won’t be working as much and therefore won’t be paid as much.

I want to start saving atleast. I should have been saving when I started but I was a child and just wanted to take advantage of not having to pay for anything and just experience my first job and buy myself stuff.

Please help. Give me advice and tips on what I should do!!!

... Read moreSaving for your first car is an essential step towards independence and convenience, especially if you rely on others for transportation. With a monthly income of $750, it's vital to set realistic savings goals. Start by creating a budget to track your essential expenses such as groceries, bills, and transportation costs. Identify areas where you can cut back—perhaps dining out less often or finding free entertainment options. Consider setting up a separate savings account specifically for your car fund. Automate your savings by transferring a fixed amount each paycheck into this account. Even small contributions can add up over time. Additionally, look for side hustles or part-time work to increase your income. Tasks like freelance gigs, babysitting, or tutoring can provide extra cash to boost your savings. Utilize financial apps that can help you manage your budget effectively. These tools can help you visualize your spending habits and find savings opportunities. Also, keep an eye out for used cars that fit your budget, as purchasing a pre-owned vehicle can significantly lower your upfront costs. Lastly, remain patient and positive. Saving for a car takes time, especially on a tight budget. Celebrate small milestones along the way, and stay focused on your goal of financial independence and a reliable means of transport.

I think you should both look for a new job together. But to give actually helpful advice, it starts with self discipline. It’s telling yourself no A LOT. No more fast food, no little treats, no more extra stuff.
