don’t get these for your living room ❌

6/20 Edited to

... Read moreWhen it comes to designing a living room that stays clean with minimal effort, it’s crucial to think beyond just aesthetics and consider maintenance. From personal experience, certain materials and features can quickly become burdensome if your schedule doesn’t allow frequent cleaning. For instance, white boucle sofas look incredibly elegant but tend to show stains and dirt easily. If you have kids or pets, these sofas can become a nightmare to maintain, requiring professional cleaning often. Instead, opting for darker or patterned upholstery can help hide minor stains and reduce cleaning time. Glossy surfaces such as high-shine coffee tables or lacquered shelves may seem stylish but are magnets for fingerprints and dust. I found that matte or textured finishes are not only more forgiving but also easier to clean with just a quick wipe. Fancy pendant lights and intricate fixtures add character but accumulate dust rapidly and often need delicate cleaning. Choosing simpler light fixtures can save you the hassle of frequent dusting or complicated maintenance. Other high-maintenance items to reconsider include intricate rugs that trap dust, heavy draperies that require regular washing, and large decorative items that make dusting tedious. Ultimately, designing your living room with practicality in mind can greatly reduce cleaning stress. Keeping materials and furnishings easy to maintain allows you to enjoy a fresh and welcoming space without dedicating excessive time and effort to upkeep.

We almost regretted our layout. But we kept going with these 5 questions!
This is the original 4-room BTO plan. Clean, efficient, and a little deceptive in how fixed it felt. Then we started testing it. One layout became two, then five. Each version came from a question we forced ourselves to answer. 🫶🏼Question 1: If hosting was the priority We combined two bedr

4 Room BTO after 6 years
My review on a few items that we have lived with and thought might not be worth it to splurge over the last 6 years. 1. Bidet - no matter how expensive (yes we bought expensive bidets amounting to $80 - 100++) it will get spoiled, water trickling out often. This one has been like our 5 - 6th one

Aircon Plan for a 4 Room BTO - NO REGRETS!
➡️ Living room (plus 1 hacked bedroom): We decided to go for a stronger 24K BTU aircon, running on its own System 1 compressor (24K BTU), as this has to cover a large area. We also didn't want to combine this with other aircon on 1 compressor so that the compressor would be "dedicated"
