LS400

You know that feeling when your car is just sparkling clean? I just finished detailing my beloved light-colored LS400, and it's looking absolutely pristine! The sun was reflecting beautifully off its windows, and even my shiny chrome wheels were gleaming. I wanted to share some of my favorite tips and the routine I follow to keep my LS400 looking this good, especially since it often sits parked on our residential street where it can attract dust. First things first, a good wash is essential. For a light-colored car like mine, dirt and grime can really stand out, so I always start with a pre-rinse to get rid of any loose debris. Then, I use the two-bucket method – one bucket for soapy water and one for rinsing my wash mitt. This prevents reintroducing dirt back onto the car's surface. I’ve found that a pH-neutral car soap works wonders, and I always wash from top to bottom, tackling the dirtiest parts last. The wheels are a game-changer! My LS400’s chrome wheels really pop when they’re clean. I use a dedicated wheel cleaner and a soft brush to get into all the crevices. It’s amazing how much of a difference clean wheels make to the overall appearance. After applying the cleaner, I let it sit for a minute or two (as per product instructions) before scrubbing gently and rinsing thoroughly. Next up are the windows. There’s nothing worse than streaks, especially when the sunlight reflects off them! I use an ammonia-free glass cleaner and two separate microfibre cloths – one for applying and one for buffing dry. I always clean my windows in the shade to prevent the cleaner from drying too quickly and leaving streaks. Don't forget the inside of the windows too! Once washed, drying is crucial. I use a super absorbent microfibre drying towel. I never let my car air dry, as that's a surefire way to get water spots, which are particularly noticeable on a light-colored finish. I gently blot the water rather than dragging the towel, which helps prevent swirls. And for that extra touch, after drying, I'll sometimes apply a quick detailer spray or a spray wax. This adds a layer of protection, enhances the shine, and makes future washes even easier. It gives that 'just detailed' look that really makes the car stand out, even when it's just parked on the street. It’s all about maintaining that fresh, clean appearance.
