I can’t believe it’s already July
Cooking. Cleaning. Repeat. Forever. Yay.
Wow, can you believe it’s already July? It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating the new year, and now half the year is gone! For me, it feels like time really does fly when you’re stuck in the kitchen, cooking & cleaning every single day. Seriously, it's a never-ending cycle, isn't it? One minute you’re whipping up breakfast, the next you’re scrubbing pots from dinner, only to start all over again. It makes you wonder where all the summer fun went! I often scroll through my feed and see everyone enjoying beach days, road trips, or exciting summer festivals, and I can't help but feel a little pang of FOMO while I'm elbow-deep in dish soap. It’s hard to embrace the 'summer vibe' when your days are filled with the same old routine. I remember thinking, 'Is this going to be the rest of my f*cking life?' – just cooking and cleaning until eternity! But lately, I’ve been trying to find little ways to carve out some 'me time,' even amidst the endless chores. One thing that’s really piqued my interest are online contests. I mean, why not? There are so many creative challenges, photography contests, or even just fun giveaways that you can enter from your phone while waiting for water to boil or laundry to finish. It’s a small thrill, a little something extra to look forward to that breaks up the monotony. I’ve even started a little journal to keep track of the ones I enter and any cool ideas I get. It’s a tiny spark of excitement in my otherwise 'cooking & cleaning every single day' schedule. And then there are books! Oh, how I dream of sprawling out on a hammock with a good book. But let's be real, that's not always feasible when you’re stuck in the kitchen. So, I've found ways to incorporate reading into my routine. Audiobooks are a game-changer while I’m doing dishes or folding laundry. Or I'll grab a physical book and promise myself just 15 minutes during my lunch break, or when the kids are napping. Escaping into a different world, even for a short while, makes such a huge difference to my mental state. It takes my mind off the never-ending 'repeat' cycle and reminds me there's more to life than just domestic duties. What about you? How do you manage to keep your spirits up when it feels like you're constantly stuck in the kitchen? Are there any July contests you're excited about, or any must-read books that have helped you escape the daily grind? I'd love to hear your recommendations and tips for finding those small moments of joy and breaking free from the cooking & cleaning loop, even if it's just for a little while. Let's make this July feel a bit more like summer, one small escape at a time!
