I've been filming the production of a lot of this so I'll have video content soon, but I've been hella busy in full production mode. The shield with the ChiRo symbol will also have a depiction of the virgin Mary to be consistent with descriptions of Dux Bellorum Arthur in the 9th century text Historia Brittonum.
Creating historically accurate replicas involves careful planning and craftsmanship. For my Artorius Rex kit, I focused on laying out the shield with significant symbols representing the era. The ChiRo symbol is notable for its Christian implications during the Roman Empire, which blends well with the depiction of the Virgin Mary, reflecting the intertwining of faith and tradition. Additionally, I crafted short bracae to lend to individuals new to living history in our group, ensuring inclusivity and learning opportunities. This not only embodies the spirit of reenactment but also encourages the preservation of historical knowledge. The tunicae russae militares, or red soldiers tunics, I am preparing demonstrate the vibrant aesthetics of military attire, vital for authentic reenaction. Furthermore, using leather for cingula militaria (soldiers' belts) is essential for completing the warrior look with authenticity. By focusing on these elements, I aim to bring history to life in a visually engaging and informative manner that honors our past.
