Based on nearly two years of experience with cardio and fasting, integrating light exercise on rest days can actually aid in recovery and enhance overall fitness. Activities such as gentle walking, stretching, or low-intensity cycling can increase blood flow, helping muscles repair and reducing soreness from previous intense sessions. Fasting combined with cardio is a popular approach to improve fat metabolism and boost energy efficiency. On your day off, staying mindful of your nutritional intake while maintaining some movement can sustain the benefits gained from fasting periods. Personally, I found that engaging in moderate-intensity cardio for about 20-30 minutes on rest days helped me maintain my stamina and reduced the lethargy that sometimes accompanies fasting. It's essential to listen to your body; if you're feeling fatigued, prioritize complete rest. However, incorporating light workouts can improve mental well-being and prevent the feeling of losing momentum in your fitness journey. Overall, balancing workout intensity with proper fasting schedules and mindful off-day activities creates a sustainable and effective fitness routine.
