Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Swirl Bread is a wonderful homemade bread that combines the sweetness of brown sugar with the warm spice of cinnamon, making it an ideal comfort food or breakfast addition. The recipe starts by preheating your oven to 350°F, ensuring it’s ready for baking once your batter is prepared. In a small bowl, mixing together 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon creates the signature cinnamon-sugar swirl that adds delightful texture and taste to the bread. For the batter, you’ll mix 2 cups of all-purpose flour (APF) with 1 to 2 cups of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder to help the bread rise, 1/2 teaspoon salt for flavor balance, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon to enhance the spice profile. After combining the dry ingredients, fold in the wet ingredients—1 large beaten egg, 1/2 cup milk, and 1/3 cup melted butter—which will give the bread its rich, moist crumb. One of the key techniques is layering: spread some batter evenly into your loaf pan, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top before repeating these layers until all batter is used. When done layering, swirl the batter lightly with a knife or skewer to create a beautiful marbled effect rich with cinnamon flavor throughout each slice. Bake the bread for 50 to 60 minutes, ensuring it’s cooked through and golden brown on top. Once cooled, this bread is perfect served warm with butter or cream cheese for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon snack. This recipe is versatile and can be adapted by adding nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra crunch or raisins for natural sweetness. Using brown sugar not only enhances the flavor but also contributes to the bread’s soft, tender texture. For a healthier twist, you can substitute part of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour without dramatically changing the taste or texture. Many home bakers appreciate how simple this recipe is yet how impressive the results can be, making it a perfect project for weekend baking. The cinnamon and brown sugar swirl is nostalgic and sure to become a family favorite. Try pairing it with a cup of coffee or tea to make a cozy treat that delights with every bite.
