Just for the Summer review 🩷☀️

Abby Jimenez is in my top 3 favorite authors of all time. Her books are always 5 stars for me!!

They are always so funny and I’m cracking up but then they’re also painful at times, but she does the balance so well. She’s so good at discussing hard topics and situations that people go through and also making you laugh at the same time.

I love Justin so much. He’s such an angel sweetie who would do anything for Emma and I love the friendship between Emma and Maddy. I hope to be as amazing of a friend as Maddy is. And also Benny and Brad — they were such good friends to Justin 🥺

I feel like I always leave Abby’s books learning something. In this one, I learned that you should always choose empathy over anger and that love is really in the mundane moments together.

This was everything and more and I cannot wait to reread and annotate my physical copy 😭

... Read moreAs a massive fan of Abby Jimenez, I can confidently say 'Just for the Summer' is another triumph that will steal your heart. From the moment I picked up my copy, the vibrant cover art, depicting people and a dog by a tranquil lake at sunset, promised a heartwarming escape – and it absolutely delivered! It’s no wonder this book is receiving so much buzz and 5-star ratings; it truly earns every single one. What makes this book so special? First, the characters are simply unforgettable. Justin, oh my goodness, he's the epitome of a sweet, protective hero. His devotion to Emma is incredibly touching, making him one of my favorite book boyfriends ever. Emma herself is a strong, relatable protagonist, navigating her own challenges with grace. But it's not just the main couple; the supporting cast adds so much richness. Maddy's friendship with Emma is the kind of supportive, honest bond we all dream of having, and the bromance between Benny and Brad and Justin had me smiling through tears. These aren't just characters; they feel like real people you'd want in your life. Abby Jimenez has a unique gift for weaving humor into deeply emotional and sometimes painful situations. One of the most powerful takeaways for me, beautifully highlighted in the story, was the idea that 'In a world where you can choose anger or empathy, always choose empathy.' This resonated deeply and is a lesson I feel we all need to remember. She tackles complex themes with such sensitivity, always allowing for laughter and hope to shine through. The beauty of love blossoming in the 'mundane moments' is another theme that truly captured my heart, making the story feel incredibly authentic and profound. If you're curious about the 'Just for the Summer' series, it's actually a standalone novel, but it carries all the beloved hallmarks of Abby Jimenez's writing style. If you've enjoyed her other works like 'Yours Truly' or 'Part of Your World,' you're in for a treat. She consistently delivers stories that are both witty and deeply moving, making her a go-to author for any romance reader. This book is perfect for anyone looking for a romance that offers more than just a surface-level love story; it’s a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and finding love in the most unexpected places. Seriously, add this to your reading list – you won't regret it!
