Project Pan: Blushes

Here’s my blush supply! I’m impressed I only have 6 different products and somehow have 2 of each type of blush! I did recently throw out a blush quad from elf that I had for 7 years. 😨 It was time to throw that one out for sure!

Cream Blushes: both are the e.l.f. Putty blushes in shades Bahama and Turks & Caicos. I love how they named these products after certain destinations. Personally I love applying these with my fingers instead of the putty blush brush that are recommended for these. I don’t like how lint builds up on the product when I use a brush, either. For a $7 price point, these pots have a good deal of product in them that can last you awhile! They may not be for everyone but I certainly like them.

Liquid blush:

- e.l.f. Camo Liquid Blush in Cheeky Lychee. I love the natural flush this gives, a little goes a long way with how pigmented this one is!

- e.l.f. Halo Glow Blush Wand in Berry Radiant. It’s very glowy, but very sheer. If you like a touch of color with glow this product would be good for you. I have yet figure out a good way to blend this out for me except for with my finger but overall I like it. I feel like a brush or sponge oils the product off of my skin.

Powder blush:

- e.l.f. Bite Size Duo Blush and Highlighter in spiced apple. I like how this comes with a highlighter to pair with the blush. For now during winter season the highlighter is too warm for me but in summer time I plan to rock it.

- Tarte mini Amazonian Clay blush in Fiesty. From what I know this blush is not easy to find since it’s a travel sized edition from Tarte. I believe this can be found on Amazon or the Ulta website. This was gifted to me by a friend so I’m not sure where it can be found in person. I do love the color though!

... Read moreSince you're here exploring Project Pan and e.l.f. blushes, let me dive a bit deeper into my experience, especially with those popular e.l.f. Putty Blushes in Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. I know many of you are curious about how these shades look and perform, so let's get into it! When comparing Bahamas and Turks & Caicos, I find Bahamas to be a beautiful, warm peachy-coral that gives a fresh, sun-kissed look – perfect for brightening up any complexion. Turks & Caicos, on the other hand, is a more muted, dusty rose shade that offers a sophisticated, everyday flush. Both are incredibly versatile, but if you're looking for that 'just came back from vacation' glow, Bahamas is your go-to. For a more subtle, natural cheek, Turks & Caicos wins. I personally find myself reaching for Turks & Caicos more often for daily wear, but Bahamas is a staple for those brighter, more energetic makeup days. Regarding application, while the original article mentions fingers, I’ve also experimented with different tools for these cream blushes. For a sheer wash of color, fingers truly are unbeatable for melting the product into the skin. However, if you want a bit more intensity or precision, a dense synthetic brush (like a flat-top kabuki or a stippling brush) works wonders. Just remember to tap, not drag, to prevent disturbing your base makeup. I've found that applying a small amount and building it up is key to avoiding a patchy look. For the e.l.f. Camo Liquid Blush in Cheeky Lychee, a tiny dot is all you need! I like to apply a dot on the back of my hand, pick it up with a damp beauty sponge, and then bounce it onto my cheeks for a seamless blend. The e.l.f. Halo Glow Blush Wand in Berry Radiant is a different beast! It's sheer but so glowy. I've learned that applying it directly to the cheek and then immediately blending it out with my fingers or a very lightly damp sponge works best before it sets. If you wait too long, it can be tricky. It's fantastic for a 'lit from within' look, especially on no-makeup makeup days. Now, about Project Panning blushes – it's definitely a commitment! My goal isn't just to use them up, but to truly appreciate the products I own and avoid excessive buying. For me, "panning" means hitting the bottom of the pan, or for liquid/cream products, reaching a point where it's visibly almost empty. Tracking progress is crucial; I often take weekly photos or just make a mental note. It's so satisfying to see that pan grow! My tips for anyone starting a blush Project Pan: Choose wisely: Pick blushes you genuinely enjoy using. If you force yourself to use something you don't like, you'll dread your routine. Rotate: Don't just stick to one! Rotate through 2-3 blushes in your pan project to keep things interesting and prevent monotony. Experiment with application: Try new brushes, sponges, or even fingers. Sometimes a different application method can make you fall in love with a product you previously neglected. For example, I rediscovered my love for the Tarte mini Amazonian Clay blush in Fiesty by using a fluffier brush for a more diffused look. Embrace versatility: Can your blush be used on your eyes as an eyeshadow? Or on your lips for a monochromatic look? The e.l.f. Bite Size Duo Blush and Highlighter in Spiced Apple is perfect for this, using the blush on cheeks and eyes, and the highlighter on inner corners and brow bone. Don't be afraid to declutter: If a product truly isn't working, even after trying different methods, it's okay to let it go. Project Pan is about thoughtful consumption, not hoarding! This project has made me realize how long blushes last and how much product we actually get. It's a great way to save money and appreciate what's already in your collection. Hopefully, these extra insights help you on your own beauty journey, whether you're panning or just exploring new blushes!
