Tender, juicy medium-rare steak served alongside creamy mashed potatoes and perfectly seasoned broccoli for the ultimate comfort meal. The steak is seared to a rich crust on the outside while staying flavorful and pink in the center, paired with buttery potatoes and fresh greens for a balanced, satisfying dinner.
Medium-Rare Steak Recipe
Ingredients
* 1 ribeye or sirloin steak (1–1½ inches thick)
* Salt and black pepper
* 1 tablespoon olive oil
* 2 tablespoons butter
* 2 garlic cloves, smashed
* Fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
Instructions
1. Remove the steak from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking and pat dry.
2. Season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat until very hot. Add olive oil.
4. Sear the steak for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare.
5. Add butter, garlic, and herbs to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the steak for 1 minute.
6. Remove from heat and let the steak rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
7. Serve with mashed potatoes and broccoli.
Tip: For perfect medium-rare, the internal temperature should reach about 130–135°F (54–57°C).
