Some thoughts I’m scared to say out loud sometimes 🫶🏻
but we only feel alone if we think we’re the only ones that feel this way. I love that I’m able to be this real with you guys (btw not a pity post. Truly just a journal entry)
Opening up about difficult experiences is never easy, but it can be incredibly healing and empowering. Many people who have faced trauma silently carry feelings of shame and self-doubt, especially when societal expectations or past beliefs add to the burden. I’ve found that acknowledging these emotions and talking openly about the messy, raw parts of my healing journey helps me feel less isolated. For example, stepping away from longstanding beliefs or environments that no longer serve you can trigger mixed feelings—fear, guilt, and even embarrassment at the choices made during that time. It’s important to recognize that personal growth and recovery are rarely linear or perfect. The shame often arises from outside voices or internalized judgments, not from who you truly are. One powerful step in reclaiming your narrative is affirming your strength and resilience. Surviving difficult chapters, such as leaving harmful situations, managing mental health challenges, and pursuing your dreams despite setbacks, is a testament to your courage and capacity to heal. Sometimes, moments of crisis—like hospitalization—can be turning points that bring buried feelings to the surface and connect you with much-needed support. It’s also common to struggle with self-blame or confusing emotions about events that happened, especially when they involve others’ misconduct. Remembering that it was never your fault and extending compassion to your younger self can be transformative. Many who have been through trauma feel compelled to eventually share their story not just for themselves but to help others feel seen and less alone. If you relate to these experiences, know that support networks and resources exist to help you navigate your healing path. You’re not alone, and there is strength in vulnerability. Embracing your story, with all its complexities, can be a powerful source of empowerment and hope—both for yourself and for others who may need to hear that they are understood and supported.
