My first time judging a pageant!! So freaking fun! 💌
Judging a pageant for the first time was an eye-opening experience that taught me a lot about the process beyond the glitz and glamour. One thing that struck me was how much the contestants genuinely care about their communities and personal causes. Unlike the stereotypes that pageants are just about appearances, I found that many girls had compelling stories about overcoming struggles or contributing positively to their hometowns. It was inspiring to see that these qualities, showcased on their social media, really influenced how we evaluated them. Between the interviews and the final stage show, we had time to review the contestants' social media profiles in depth. This was a fascinating part of my judging role because it showed me how much modern pageants value authenticity and engagement with meaningful topics. Contestants who shared personal journeys or were actively involved in community service stood out, proving that today’s pageants are about more than just beauty – they spotlight real-life leadership and passion. Another memorable element was the presence of the little princesses who performed between stages. Their adorable outfits and enthusiastic energy added a delightful charm to the event, balancing the more serious judging moments with light-hearted fun. Being introduced as a judge was surreal, as I realized my opinions would influence the outcome. It was a heavy responsibility, but also an honor. The atmosphere was energetic yet respectful, and it was clear that all judges took the role seriously, striving to be as unbiased as possible. Overall, this experience challenged some preconceptions I had and gave me a deeper appreciation for the hard work and dedication of pageant participants. It also highlighted how pageants can empower young leaders by providing a platform to share their stories and make an impact in their communities.
