Procreate
I recently got an iPad to be able to use procreate. It has been quite different from using actual paints, but I’m loving the different textures and endless brushes I can use.
✨I’ve been doing mostly tutorials to learn the basics of procreate. I did attempt a studio guibli landscape, which I may still critique
Switching from traditional painting to digital art with Procreate has been an exciting journey for me. The iPad offers a unique platform where creativity meets technology, especially with the countless brush options and texture styles available. One of the best parts of using Procreate is the ability to experiment freely without worrying about wasting materials. This freedom encourages trying new techniques and styles. When starting out, I found following tutorials incredibly helpful to understand the basic tools, layers, and brush adjustments. For example, learning to customize brushes or blend colors digitally can make a huge difference in the final artwork. It’s also inspiring to recreate scenes from well-loved animations like Studio Ghibli films, which challenge you to focus on subtle details such as lighting and atmosphere. In my experience, dedicating time to practice and critique your work is essential for growth. The digital canvas allows you to undo, redo, and revise with ease, which is perfect for experimentation. Additionally, sharing your progress in digital art communities can provide invaluable feedback and motivation. As you get comfortable with the software, you may find it becomes an extension of your artistic style, opening new ways to express ideas and stories through your art.
