This Hungarian Goulash Is PURE Comfort

This rich, cozy Hungarian Goulash is the ultimate comfort meal ❤️🥘 Tender beef, warm paprika, and hearty veggies simmered into the most flavorful stew. It’s rustic, filling, and perfect with crusty bread for dipping!

What You Need:

✅ 4 Tablespoons olive oil, divided

✅ 1.5 lbs beef chuck roast, cut into chunks

✅ 2–3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour

✅ 2 medium yellow onions, finely diced

✅ 3 cloves garlic, minced

✅ 1 Tablespoon sweet paprika

✅ 1 teaspoon hot paprika

✅ ½ cup dry red wine (optional)

✅ 3 Roma tomatoes, chopped

✅ 1 Tablespoon tomato paste

✅ ½ teaspoon caraway seeds

✅ 1 teaspoon dried marjoram

✅ 2 bay leaves

✅ 6½ cups low-sodium beef broth

✅ 4 medium carrots, chopped

✅ 1 large red bell pepper, chopped

✅ 3 small Yukon Gold potatoes, cubed

✅ 1 small lemon

✅ ¼ cup fresh chopped parsley

✅ Crusty artisan bread, for serving

Instructions:

1️⃣ Cut beef into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper, then toss with flour to lightly coat.

2️⃣ Heat 2 Tablespoons oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear beef until browned on all sides (work in batches if needed). Remove to a plate.

3️⃣ Add remaining oil. Sauté onion until soft and translucent. Stir in garlic.

4️⃣ Pour in red wine and simmer about 5 minutes, until reduced.

5️⃣ Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, caraway, marjoram, and bay leaves. Add broth and return beef to the pot.

6️⃣ Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer 1½ hours.

7️⃣ Add carrots, bell pepper, and potatoes. Cook 20–30 more minutes until tender. Remove bay leaves.

8️⃣ Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Garnish with parsley and serve with crusty bread.
