♥️What the Cross symbolizes toddler lesson♥️

Explaining what the cross means and what happened on Good Friday to my toddler.

We did this throughout our morning as we ate breakfast and after breakfast and throughout the day.

I try to make the lesson quick but giving him enough information for his age to understand and know what the cross symbolizes and why Jesus had to die and what happened when he was crucified.

We took small breaks and included worship songs and songs that talk about the love of Jesus for us just to make it exciting, but also teaching him. Moms/Dads I encourage you to start teaching your children right now that they’re little about who Jesus is and what he did for us.♥️ you may think they’re little, but they are capable of so much and grasp and catch on to everything that they hear and see. Our children are so quick to learn from our habits. So I encourage you to include them into your daily prayer, your Bible study. Let them catch on to the good habits. Lets plant seeds and let them see your love for Christ. They are the only thing we get to take to heaven with us. ♥️

-

... Read moreWhen I started teaching my toddler about the cross and Good Friday, I quickly realized the importance of making the lesson relatable and interactive. Beyond just explaining the story, I used tangible activities like making a chain to represent the 'heavy chains' of sin and mistakes that Jesus broke through His sacrifice on the cross. This visual aid helped my child grasp complex ideas like forgiveness and freedom in a way that felt real and understandable. Incorporating songs about Jesus' love brought energy and joy to our learning time, keeping my toddler engaged even with challenging topics. I noticed that taking short breaks for worship helped him internalize the message without feeling overwhelmed. Plus, inviting my partner to join in created a warm family atmosphere where faith became a shared experience. One tip I’d recommend to parents is to encourage your child to recall their own mistakes or moments where they felt sad or upset and then connect those feelings to why Jesus’ sacrifice matters. This personal connection fosters empathy and a deeper appreciation for the story. Also, be patient with your child’s pace — some days they’ll want to break the chain multiple times, symbolizing their excitement about being free from burdens, while other days, a short, simple lesson might be best. The key is consistency and making faith a natural part of daily life through prayer, Bible stories, and habits your toddler can observe and emulate. Remember, toddlers absorb not just through words but through actions and atmosphere. Let them see your genuine love for Christ and your gratitude for His sacrifice. Over time, these small lessons become the foundation of a lifelong faith journey, planting seeds that will grow as they mature.
