I have officially reached a new level of parenting "efficiency." ☕️💨
This morning, I was a machine. Breakfast made, Leo dressed, shoes on—I glanced at the clock, saw 7:45, and panicked. If we didn't leave RIGHT NOW, I’d have to walk him inside, and I was currently rocking an oversized red robe and purple fuzzy slippers. 👘💜
We fly to the school. I’m wondering why there are no cars, but I’m on a mission. I usher him out, he walks to the door, and then… he just circles back. Out walks the janitor, waving at me.
Me: "Is everything okay?"
Janitor: "We don't usually open the doors until 7:15..."
Me: "Wait, what time is it?"
Janitor: "It's 7:00 AM."
I stood there in my fuzzy slippers for a full three minutes just trying to reboot my brain. I was living in 8:00 AM panic while the rest of the world was still asleep. 🤡
The good news? Leo is already at school. The bad news? The neighbors definitely saw the robe. Send help (and caffeine).

... Read moreAs a parent, mornings can often feel like a whirlwind of tasks squeezed into tight time frames. The story shared wonderfully captures that all-too-familiar scramble — aiming for perfect timing but running just off-schedule. In my own experience, these rushed moments are often made lighter with a sense of humor, like putting on slippers and a robe while dashing to school or having to pause and recalibrate when time plays tricks on us.
One tip I've found incredibly helpful is setting multiple alarms with staggered times, giving some buffer to wake up without panic. Also, preparing the night before by laying out clothes, packing bags, and even prepping breakfast ingredients can transform the chaotic morning into something more manageable. It’s amazing how a little extra preparation can boost our parental 'efficiency' and reduce those 7:45 panics.
And let’s face it, those unintentional fashion moments — like wearing fuzzy slippers on the school run — tend to be the stories we laugh about later. They also gently remind us that no one is perfect, and every parent shares these unpredictable mornings. Embracing these imperfect, funny moments with grace and humor not only eases stress but also sets a joyful tone for the day ahead.
Ultimately, the takeaway is to celebrate our small wins, like getting the kids to school on time, even if we do it in an oversized robe. Sending myself and other parents caffeine and good vibes to keep powering through those early morning adventures!
