Freezing episodes aren’t about willpower

When someone with Parkinson’s freezes, saying “just move” can actually make it worse.
Freezing is the brain losing rhythm — not the body refusing.
One thing that often helps:
Give the brain something steady to follow.
A visual cue.
A gentle rhythm.
A calm pause.
Even standing still for a moment is okay.
Safety comes before speed.
You’re not doing anything wrong if it feels scary.
No one prepares caregivers for this part.
