I Don’t Want to Be a Burden, But I’m Struggling
For a long time, I carried the fear that opening up would make me a burden that if I wasn’t strong all the time, I’d lose the people around me.
But silence turned into isolation, and pretending turned into pain.
So I started unpacking where that fear came from childhood, past relationships, always being the strong one. And I’m learning something important.
We aren’t meant to carry everything alone.
The fear of being too much is often a wound from feeling like our emotions were inconvenient for others. But we deserve space. We deserve care. And we are not too much.
Many people grapple with the fear of being a burden, which often stems from childhood experiences and past relationships. This fear can lead to emotional isolation, making individuals feel like their needs are an inconvenience to others. Recognizing that needing help is a sign of strength rather than weakness is crucial to overcoming this mindset. In my experience, reaching out for support transformed my feelings of invisibility into a sense of belonging. When I gradually allowed myself to share my struggles, the burden I had carried began to lighten. A crucial turning point came when a friend told me that watching me struggle alone hurt her, reinforcing the idea that connection and understanding are essential in times of hardship. Practicing vulnerability through journaling and open conversations has helped me process my emotions more effectively. I learned to articulate feelings of distress without apologizing for the need to express them, ultimately leading to a healthier emotional existence. Embracing both strength and vulnerability has been liberating, reminding me and others that healing is about unlearning the narratives that tell us we must carry our burdens alone.

Hi Queen, you are never a burden. I understand where you’re coming from do much. You taking the time share this is a step in the right direction. Those of us who want to fix everything and be there for everybody, have to start showing up and pouring into ourselves. If you haven’t tried therapy I highly recommend it. If you’re not ready I’m only a message away and I don’t mind at all. It’s time for healing mind, body soul one day at a time. #WalkinYourPurpose💐
