My Portion Controlled Fast Food Hack

My current favorite drive thru lunch from Zaxby’s is surprisingly simple.

I order 2 chicken tenders, fries, and an Asian slaw. The tenders are crispy and flavorful, the fries satisfy the craving, and the slaw adds a fresh crunch that keeps the meal from feeling too heavy.

What I like most is that it feels satisfying without needing one of the giant combo meals. I still get the foods I actually want, just in a portion that works better for me.

If you have the app, you can sometimes build a similar meal for a great value too.

I’ve found that choosing smaller, well-balanced meals like 2 chicken tenders combined with regular fries and Asian slaw from Zaxby’s hits the sweet spot. The chicken tenders offer a crispy, flavorful bite, while the fries satisfy that craving for something salty and comforting. Adding Asian slaw brings a refreshing crunch that lightens the meal and makes it feel less heavy. From my experience, reducing portion sizes without sacrificing the foods you truly enjoy helps maintain a sense of satisfaction and prevents the sluggishness that often comes after oversized fast food combos. Interestingly, many fast food restaurants, including Zaxby’s, often offer smaller meal options like kids’ meals or the ability to customize portions via their ordering apps. Using the app lets you build a similar meal with controlled calories—sometimes achieving up to 80-100 calories for chicken tenders and 200-330 calories for fries and slaw, which helps in calorie management. Another tip I’ve found useful is to pick one or two favorite items and focus on quality over quantity. For instance, sticking to chicken fingerz (tenders) and the side of Asian slaw provides a balanced meal that hits protein, carbs, and veggies. This makes it easier to resist the temptation of upsizing to giant combo meals, which often lead to overeating. I also appreciate how this approach aligns well with a healthier fast food mindset, making the drive-thru lunch both convenient and aligned with portion control goals. Over time, I noticed I leave the drive-thru feeling satisfied but not overly full or lethargic, which improves my overall day. For anyone looking to enjoy fast food without the guilt, experimenting with smaller, balanced meals tailored to personal cravings can be a game-changer. Plus, leveraging app deals enhances cost-effectiveness, making this hack both wallet-friendly and health-conscious.

That’s nowhere close to healthy. Nothing deep fried is healthy
