Beginner Gardening 🍋
This year, my lemon tree finally decided that it wanted to bare fruit I was all excited, taking pictures every day of how my lemon babies we’re growing. It seemed as if they were there one day and gone the next can I say I truly cried! I don’t know why the birds had to come and take all my lemons, but I’m hoping for more to come soon any ideas? #growingagarden #reallifegarden #growinginthegarden #growingroots #emergingcreator
Growing a lemon tree can be both exciting and challenging, especially when your hard-earned fruits attract unwanted attention from birds. I've experienced the disappointment of seeing my lemon babies suddenly disappear overnight, which can be quite heartbreaking. However, this has taught me valuable lessons on how to better protect my garden. First, installing physical barriers like bird netting or garden mesh around your lemon tree is an effective way to prevent birds from reaching your fruit. This method creates a protective shield without harming the wildlife. Additionally, reflective objects such as old CDs or aluminum foil strips hung near your tree can scare birds away due to the light reflections. Another approach I've found helpful is using natural deterrents. Sprinkling chili powder or applying a citrus-based spray around the tree can discourage birds without affecting the lemon taste. It's important to reapply these deterrents regularly, especially after rain. Creating alternative food sources for the birds, such as setting up a bird feeder some distance from your lemon tree, can also help divert their attention away from your fruit. Finally, consistent monitoring is key. Taking daily photos, as I did, not only helps track the growth of your lemons but also alerts you quickly if birds are approaching. With patience and these protective measures, you can enjoy watching your lemon tree flourish and eventually harvest your own fresh lemons. Sharing my journey has been a learning experience, and I hope these tips inspire you to keep growing and protecting your garden successfully.
