Privilege - with or without
Not everyone who starts with privilege learns how to endure.
And not everyone who struggles stays behind.
What truly lasts isn’t comfort but CHARACTER.
The patience to keep going.
The resilience to rebuild.
The strength to believe that this too shall pass.
In my experience, the concept of privilege is often misunderstood when people assume that starting with advantages guarantees a smooth life. What I’ve seen is that privilege can provide comfort, but without facing hardships, it’s difficult to develop the resilience needed for long-term success. For example, I recall meeting someone born into wealth, who didn’t feel the need to work or push themselves early in life. They spent much time leisurely without building essential life skills or character. This often leads to vulnerability when circumstances change unexpectedly. On the other hand, many individuals who grow through trials and tribulations develop a strong character. They learn patience and perseverance, gaining the ability to rebuild and adapt. This resilience is what helps them navigate pain and hardship, with the hope and belief that "this too shall pass." In life, what truly matters is not the comfort one starts with but the inner strength built over time. Learning to endure and grow through challenges not only builds character but also ensures that we are prepared for whatever life throws our way. This mindset has personally helped me stay grounded and motivated through difficult times, serving as a valuable reminder that privilege alone does not guarantee fulfillment or success.
