something that i wanted to say but was too long to put in the video, is that grief sends your brain into self-comfort mode 24/7
at least for me, about 2-3 weeks after i lost my dad, it was like my body went on autopilot & starting trying every self-care remedy my brain could think of. i started making my bed, doing face masks, long hot showers, sleeping in, working out, going on walks, doing excessive hair care, laughing at everything even if it wasn't funny, etc. but at the same time, bed rotting the rest of the time, not eating great, & just having a low self esteem in general.
so clearly, grief doesn't make sense, it doesn't have a pattern, there's no consistency, except for how much you hurt when you do hurt.
yes, i'm over here smiling & doing kissy faces to the camera, but after everything i was just so transparent about, are you still going to assume that i'm living the good, happy life?
social media is a mask, i always stand by this, so please do not assume that just because someone looks happy-go-lucky in their pics that they're not suffering in reality. give them grace, & kindness. ๐ฉท
if anyone has any questions for me about anything, my situation, your situation, or grief in general, please feel free to comment or private message me, mine is still pretty fresh so i don't know everything & never will, but i'm an open book ๐๏ธโจ

Grief is a profound emotional response to loss, and it can manifest in various ways. In the initial weeks after losing a loved one, like my dad, your body can enter a state of autopilot, triggering various coping mechanisms. During this time, engaging in self-care practicesโlike face masks, long showers, exercising, and even finding humor in daily lifeโcan be both soothing and confusing. It's essential to recognize that feelings of devastation coexist with moments of seemingly normal behavior, creating a complex emotional landscape. Many people might appear happy on social media, concealing their true feelings. It's vital to avoid assumptions and extend compassion to those who may be silently suffering. Empathy is crucial as we navigate relationships during such difficult times. If you or someone you know is facing grief, remember that it's perfectly okay to reach out for support. Sharing experiences can alleviate the burdens of isolation and loneliness associated with loss. Please feel free to ask questions about grief or share your journey in the comments; Iโm here to listen and support. ๐๏ธโจ
Grief is so hard. I never properly got to grieve the loss of my father. I went from caring for my mom with him to caring for her all in my own. I was thrust into survival mode, I ran on autopilot for so long. I finally reached a point where I could no longer care for my mom properly and be able to support myselfโฆ
