Pond Punch

Recently had my baby shower with the theme being centered around woodland critters and everything forest like, this was one of the drinks I made for it!

Ingredients:

-2 liter of Ginger Ale

-46 oz can of Pineapple juice

-2 quarts of Lime Sherbet

(can also add alcohol of choice if you want to be spicy 😝)

Mix well and serve! This drink will need to be mixed throughout depending on if you’re letting it sit for self serving.

Tip- if your have trouble mixing the sherbet in I suggest blending it first on purée to break it down for more easier mixing🤍

... Read moreAfter making my Pond Punch for the baby shower, I got so many questions about how to adapt it for different occasions! It truly is a versatile drink, and I've picked up a few tricks to make it even more special, whether you're serving it for kids or a lively adult gathering. Let's talk about making it "spicy" – as in, adult-friendly! If you're looking for a delicious spiked punch recipe, Pond Punch is surprisingly easy to convert. My go-to is adding a good quality vodka or clear rum. For a typical batch using a 2-liter ginger ale and 46 oz pineapple juice, I'd suggest starting with about 1.5 to 2 cups of your chosen spirit. Always add gradually and taste as you go! Another fun twist for a "pond water drink" theme could be a splash of blue curaçao (if you don't mind a slightly different color) or even a splash of coconut rum for a tropical vibe. Just remember, the lime sherbet already adds a lovely frothy texture, so aim for spirits that complement those bright flavors. Thinking about serving a large group or making a punch birthday centerpiece? This recipe scales up beautifully! For a big party, consider using a large beverage dispenser with a spigot. It makes self-serving super easy and looks impressive. To keep costs down for an alcoholic party punch for a crowd cheap, stick to budget-friendly mixers like ginger ale and generic brand juices, and buy your alcohol in larger quantities. You can also stretch the punch further by adding more ice or even some sparkling water just before serving if you need to. To really lean into the fun "pond water punch" or "woodland" theme, garnishes are key! I love adding gummy frogs or fish to the light green surface. You can even float thin slices of lime or lemon to look like lily pads. If you’re making it for a baby shower, consider coordinating straw colors or tiny paper umbrellas. And for that perfectly smooth, frothy consistency, remember my tip about blending the lime sherbet first – it makes all the difference when mixing it into the cold liquids, especially if you're using a large pitcher or beverage dispenser. A quick whip in the blender makes it dissolve like a dream! Beyond the Pond Punch, I've also experimented with other party punches. For a "Grinch punch" during the holidays, you could adapt this by keeping the green base and adding maraschino cherries or red sanding sugar to the rim for a festive touch. Or, for a classic old fashioned church punch recipe feel, sometimes a simple combination of fruit juices, ginger ale, and a touch of almond extract does wonders. The key to any great punch, in my opinion, is balancing sweetness with a little tang, and making sure it looks as good as it tastes. Happy punching!
