Whispers in the mind loud as thunder✨
I drew inspiration from my own silent battles and inner reflections, turning my struggles into a story and poem to connect with others on their journeys.
A special thanks to my friend Emma for allowing me to use her name in this story and poem.🤍❤️
In a small, dimly lit room, Emma sat by her window, staring out into the twilight. Her hands clutched a worn-out journal, its pages filled with the scribbled confessions of her soul. Each entry was a testament to her silent battles, fought not with swords but with whispers that echoed like thunder in her mind.
Emma's life had always been a series of unspoken struggles. To the outside world, she was a picture of calm and composure. But inside, she wrestled with doubts and fears that clung to her like shadows. She often wondered if these battles made her weak or if they were the silent wars that everyone fought but never spoke about.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a soft glow over her room, Emma opened her journal to a fresh page. The words flowed from her pen effortlessly, capturing the essence of her inner turmoil:
"In the quiet, unseen battles rage,
Is it weakness, or is it war?
Whispers in the mind, loud as thunder,
Does it speak truth, or sow lies?"
She paused, the weight of her thoughts pressing down on her. Was acknowledging her struggles a step towards healing or a stumble into further despair? Emma often felt like she was balancing on a tightrope, with recognition on one side and oblivion on the other.
"To acknowledge, to face,
Is recognition a step, or a stumble?
Shadows cling, light flickers,
Struggle, courage, resilience,
Is it a burden, or a badge of survival?"
The flickering light of the candle beside her cast dancing shadows on the walls, mirroring the conflict within her. She knew that these shadows, these doubts, were a part of her journey. But she also knew that within her was a flicker of light hope, courage, resilience. Were these silent struggles her burden, or were they the badges of her survival, proof of her strength?
As she continued to write, her breath became shallow, each word a deep revelation. She realized that while her journey was solitary, she was not alone in her struggles. Others, too, walked similar paths, their silent battles mirroring her own.
"Words caught, breaths shallow,
Deep, revealing, necessary,
Is it a solitary journey, or a shared path?"
Closing her journal, Emma felt a sense of calm wash over her. Her battles were her own, but in sharing them, she found a connection to the world around her. In the visible silence of her thoughts, she discovered that her journey, while deeply personal, was part of a collective human experience.
Emma stood up, the weight of her silent battles feeling a little lighter. She walked to the window, looking out at the world beyond, and for the first time in a long while, she felt a flicker of hope. Her struggles were not a sign of weakness but a testament to her resilience, a badge of survival in the quiet war within.
