Because empowering the girls matter

Hey there, Friend👋🏾 Today, I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping alone and had to use the restroom.

As I went to the restroom, I immediately thought about some tips I’ve learned throughout the years, several I’ve learned recently…and had it on my heart to share.

Feel free to use or simply share with another girl to be safe✨

[TIPS FOR SAFETY IN PUBLIC]

1. Stay aware of your surroundings: Always be mindful of who and what is around you. Avoid distractions like texting or listening to music with both earbuds in.

2. Trust your instincts: If something feels off, it’s okay to leave or seek help. Your intuition is an important safety tool.

3. Plan your route: Stick to well-lit, populated areas, especially at night. Avoid shortcuts through alleys or unfamiliar, isolated places.

4. If you have to use the restroom, go to the single family bathroom. In most cases, these restrooms have a single toilet, so you don’t have to worry about anyone else( such as a potential predator) lurking.

5. Keep your phone accessible: Have your phone ready in case of emergencies, and make sure it’s charged. Consider installing safety apps or using location-sharing features with trusted friends or family.

6. Use your body language: Walk confidently and with purpose. This can discourage potential threats.

7. Stay in groups when possible: There’s safety in numbers. Try not to walk alone, especially late at night.

8. Secure your belongings: Keep bags and purses close to your body, and avoid carrying large amounts of cash or valuables.

9. Know emergency numbers: In some places, dialing 911 or an equivalent number will get you help quickly, so keep it in mind.

10. Keep sanitizer. A good amount of sanitizer is like washing your hands. Use it ever so often to keep your hands clean in the event you touch something that can cause harm to you.

Staying alert, prepared, and confident can go a long way in ensuring safety.

Love you, Bestie✨❤️

... Read moreEmpowering girls through safety awareness is crucial in today's world. Understanding how to navigate various environments can help build confidence and preparedness. Begin by emphasizing the importance of staying alert and aware of your surroundings. Avoid distractions that can compromise safety, like using earbuds or scrolling through your phone. Trusting your instincts is also key; if something feels off, don't hesitate to change your plans or seek assistance. Planning routes ahead of time and choosing well-lit, populated areas can reduce risks significantly, especially during nighttime outings. Emphasizing the value of single-use family restrooms helps ensure the privacy and safety needed while using public facilities. Keeping your phone handy and charged is vital too—consider safety apps that allow sharing your location with trusted friends or family members. Additionally, your physical presence matters: walking with confidence can deter potential threats. Avoiding solitude in unfamiliar settings and securing personal belongings can make a lasting difference in your safety. Always remember to familiarize yourself with emergency contacts and procedures in your area, ensuring that you're prepared to act quickly if needed. Finally, maintaining hygiene with resources like sanitizer contributes to overall well-being during outings.
