... Read moreHey everyone! You might have seen my quick video on Pirtorico 🇨🇺, and I just had to share more about why this island stole my heart. When I first planned my trip, I was looking for somewhere vibrant, rich in culture, and with incredible natural beauty – Puerto Rico delivered on all fronts! My journey started in Old San Juan, and honestly, walking those cobblestone streets felt like stepping back in time. The colorful buildings, historic forts like El Morro, and the lively atmosphere were just captivating. I spent hours getting lost (in a good way!) wandering around, snapping photos of every picturesque corner. Watching the sunset over the Atlantic from the fort walls was truly magical, a moment I often reflect on, sometimes late in the evening around 9:52 PM. Beyond the history, Puerto Rico's natural wonders are breathtaking. El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System, was an absolute highlight. Hiking through lush greenery, discovering hidden waterfalls, and just soaking in the sounds of nature was an unforgettable experience. I still remember the refreshing spray from La Mina Falls! And the beaches! Oh, the beaches. From the serene shores of Flamenco Beach in Culebra (seriously, it's consistently ranked as one of the best in the world!) to the lively sands of Luquillo, there’s a perfect spot for every mood. I loved just unwinding by the ocean, feeling the warm sand between my toes and listening to the rhythmic waves. Let's not forget the food – mofongo, arroz con gandules, bacalaitos, and fresh seafood were my daily delights. Every meal was an explosion of flavor! And of course, the vibrant music and dancing you find everywhere, especially in San Juan after dark. The energy is infectious, and you can't help but feel the rhythm. If you're thinking of visiting, I'd highly recommend renting a car to explore beyond the capital, packing light clothes, good walking shoes for all the exploring, and definitely a swimsuit (or three)! Embrace the local culture, try to learn a few Spanish phrases – even just 'hola' and 'gracias' go a long way – and just let the island enchant you. It’s a place that truly leaves a mark on your soul with its warmth, beauty, and incredible spirit. I can't wait to go back and discover even more of its hidden gems.
