I am officially emotionally compromised.
One Dark Window was incredible, but Two Twisted Crowns completely blew my mind.
Honestly, this is how you write a perfect duology conclusion.
The gothic, misty atmosphere is just as thick and creepy as book one, but the stakes are dialed up to eleven.
The absolute highlight for me was Elspeth and the Nightmare's dynamic. Their connection is the beating heart of this book—it is so complex and symbiotic that it kept my heart in my throat.
Alongside that, the massive deep dive into the history of Blunder and the origins of the Providence Cards was fascinating. It made the magic system feel so much higher stakes because the cost of using them is just brutal.
The character arcs are also flawless.
Ravyn’s chapters are incredibly good as he fights to save everyone, and Elm's new perspective completely stole my heart.
Getting to see more of Ione and how her story intertwines with the political tension added so much emotional depth to the plot.
Rachel Gillig’s writing is pure magic, and I can't stop thinking about how perfectly this wraps up. Even if it is bittersweet.

Elm's fresh perspective offered heartfelt vulnerability, while Ravyn's relentless fight to save everyone added urgency and grit. Ione’s role in the political tension introduced complexity and moral dilemmas. Together, these perspectives weave a tapestry of conflicting loyalties and personal growth that resonate deeply. From a personal standpoint, I appreciated how the duology didn’t shy away from bittersweet endings. Despite the darkness and high stakes, the resolution felt honest and satisfying. Rachel Gillig’s writing style wove magic and emotion seamlessly, making Two Twisted Crowns one of the most memorable fantasy conclusions I’ve experienced.
